Excellence in Care

By Tatiana Meharry

Texas Conference Human Resources is committed to providing excellent customer service for our employees. We are here to serve our pastors, teachers and office staff.

Even before an employee is hired, Human Resources creates and posts job descriptions, interviews potential employees and completes the onboarding process for all employees.

We assist Texas Conference administrators in developing policies and procedures and help coordinate the recruitment and selection of staff.

We oversee employee relations, compensation, health insurance benefits, compliance with all employment and labor laws, immigration, family medical leave, life insurance and both short-term and long-term disability.

Over the past four years, we have processed hundreds of new hires for the Texas Conference and have helped our employees become more informed and familiar with available benefits. We also implemented training in different categories, including diversity and inclusion, and have become more involved in helping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

The Texas Conference processes payroll for conference-funded and locally funded employees twice a month. Conferencefunded are full-time or part-time pastors, teachers and office staff. Locally funded employees are individuals our churches and schools request to hire to serve local needs.

In 2022, we began updating employee handbooks for pastors and office staff, both salary and hourly. Teachers already have the Education Code handbook, which the Southwestern Union Conference Office of Education updates regularly. Updated policies are essential so that both employees and employers can be clear on expectations.

Please keep our pastors, teachers and office staff in your prayers, since they are on the front lines representing the Texas Conference. It is an honor to serve them.
