The Curriculum

Advanced Placement and Honors Courses:

Tatnall offers a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum with Advanced Placement and honors level courses. Freshmen and sophomores have limited access to advanced courses. Due to the high level of rigor throughout our curriculum and the expectation that our students be involved and active members of our intimate school community, it is not possible to take every Advanced Placement and honors course offered. We recommend that our students hold the total number of AP/honors courses in any given year to three. Students may take more than three AP/honors courses only after extensive consultation with their academic advisor.

There are 15 Advanced Placement and 10 honors courses offered:

Grading Tatnall computes weighted cumulative GPAs on a four-point scale and reports them to colleges. The GPA includes grades from all major academic subjects and honors art taken at Tatnall, but does not include grades from non-honors art, any computer, music or physical education courses or courses taken at other schools. Courses that carry an honors or AP designation on our transcript receive a 0.33 boost in GPA value when those courses are averaged into the cumulative GPA. NOTE: Class rank is not computed because of Tatnall’s selective admissions process and the small number of students in each class.
