PROFILE I’m an architect based in Lima Peru, I graduated in 2015 after completing my thesis project for a Music School. The performing arts have always been a passion of mine, and tried to bring it closer to my life as an architect as often as I am able. I’m looking to broaden my horizons in the field of design for the theater and apply my knowledge of space planning and the construction of physical structures.

Scenic Design
The Tempest / W. Shakespeare
Scenic Design
Textures The main approach in designing for the tempest is the dichotomy between the sea and the sky, playing together with the rest of the elements on scene. The island, the ocean and the sky in one point or another merge and the limits get lost in the morphology of the overall design. The rest of the pieces are parts of the original shipwrecked and are symbolic throughout the play.

Depending on how it’s illuminated, it can simulate waves, when the light comes from the inside, and generate shadows on its own structure from light coming from the side, creating a dark environment. The color palette combines green, blue and tones of grey for the floor.

The dune it’s a scenic element that remains during the entire play, sometimes playing the part of ocean, wind or earth. It’s configure by a succession of vertical panels, join together by wood bridges and ramps, where the action of the play it’s concentrated.

The Tempest / W. Shakespeare The whole play takes place either on the island or in the sea as do the magic sequences. The tittle itself alludes to a storm, a storm that not only occurs physically but in the actions taking place. The idea that the pieces of scenic elements are made of parts of one shipwrecked boat, symbolizes how fracture the characters are at the start of the play, and the motivation of Prospero to rebuild his power.
Tania Barrenechea Barreda
Scenic Design The four pieces of scenery designed appear throughout the story by themselves, slowly coming together. The ship pieces are barely recognizable, and have transform, they are now part of the island itself. They represent a shelter, hiding places and Prospero’s magic cavern.

The costumes designs for Prospero and Miranda, having been living on the island for so long, are made of flowy fabrics, scraps put together with parts and patches. The color palette for Prospero are deep greens and corroded metals. For Miranda, the ingĂŠnue, her pure characteristics suit bright and creamy colors.

Scenic Design / La Traviata Design for the second Act in Opera La Traviata. The scene takes place in the country side, there are references to a garden and a very bucolic setting. For the scene the space begins its transformation from a very open green space to a solarium inside a house. The metal pieces work in opposition with the garden, and refer to the mental cage Violetta gets into by the end of the second act. After the setting changes to become the ballroom for the party.
Costume Design / Annina - La Traviata The ideas of metal and greenery bring the steam punk concept into action. The costume for Annina combines this aspects. The realization in real life of the costume was achieve by creation “metal pieces with craft foam painted and made seem like gears and pipes. The dress was design as a jumper, made with very light fabric.
Assistant Design / The Crowd Nick Rongjun Yu The play The crowd takes place in many different places, but the scenery is very minimalistic, using projections as the main frame.

As the characters change around, and voices narrate the story, the only props are the chairs. Designed to fit together to become part of the background. They are design to symbolize different status and positions for the changing characters.

Architecture in Catharsis - Investigation
Scenic Design Architecture and Scenic Design
An architec on the stage
The scenic space created by an architect and a scenic designer: this investigation focuses on finding the different ways to create and develop a specific design made for the stage. Exploring each profession-al’s approach to light, materials, space and time for each play. If we see architecture as a game for which the objective is to find the pieces that fit our lives, then scenography can be view as a game without rules.
The final ideas
Scenography it’s the union between art, design and theater, a fusion of sensations custom-made for a specific play, it goes beyond the space inside the black box at the stage. The most appealing part about designing for the stage is that the concept of virtual space gets to be lived by the people watching the play develop, although they may not realize that it’s happening.

Music School - Thesis Project
Architecture
The main concept for the overall design of the school focuses on the spaces designed for the meeting people, practice and expose the music to the general audience. The grand hall sits at the center connecting the public areas to the inside classrooms. And in between those spaces the terraces open around the hall, the cafeteria, the auditorium and the meeting places in an elliptical way, coming from the street and up to the fifth floor. Ephimeral Architecture
The pavilion for the literary expo in Colombia it’s organized around “the hills” of the Andes, just like the real one divides our country in 3 parts, organizing the altitudes of or complex geography, conditioning our culture. The architecture proposal forms the hills, dividing spaces and creating a “jungle” of books.

Angel’s Trumpet Bar and Installation / VICCA VERDE
Ephimeral Architecture
The Angel’s Trumpet project seeks to waken the curiosity and imagination of the public by means of playing with the scale of a piece of nature – the flower – a motif both well-known and mysterious at the same time. The Brugmansia flower, known more commonly as Angel´s Trumpet, is originally from Peru and is known as much for its beauty as for its psychedelic effects that heighten the senses and rouses the collective and individual imagination: a common challenge in contemporary art.

Madreselva / Residential Housing This project it´s brought to life in a mutual concern for the well developedment of the real-estate and urban sprawl of our city. Which actually is not happening in the best way, and is leaving behind important subjects. For example sustainability.
Hotel Boutique Casa Dasso The project was to restore an existing mansion, celebrating the original splendour of the colonial architecture. In addition, a completely new construction that respects the existing architecture whilst itself contemporary is inserted.
RWT Group Offices / Contest The building seeks to enhance the corporate image of the corporation. It poses a clear and powerful main facade, reflecting importance and seriousness towards the city. The project takes advantage of its size to be displayed in the interior spaces even quintuple shocking heights. On arrival at each floor, the metal structure gives a robust and highly similar to the large port and naval structures dimension aspect. Tania Barrenechea Barreda
