Welcome to our 17th annual Bull Sale! All of us at Double Bar D really appreciate your patronage in our cattle year after year. That support gives us the conﬁdence to keep on pursuing to improve and accelerate our genetics into the future. We try to raise bulls that are pasture ready, raised on a high roughage based ration with mostly silage and ground hay keeping the longevity of your bulls in mind. Take note of the 100 plus bulls that are age advantaged, that are willing and able to count on to cover more cows and ground similar to that of your walking, mature bulls. We once again welcome Greg and Brandon Goudy of Swan Lake Farms with their stout, ranch ready bulls! We are very conﬁdent in our offering this year with a diverse, yet consistent offering to meet your herd bull needs. The Fleckvieh group offers some new and exciting sire groups of power bulls along with moderate bulls to suit your calving needs. The Red and Black Purebred sector has ranch ready bulls with good substance and dimension that calve well and add pounds to your calf crop. All bulls born prior to January 1, 2016 will be semen evaluated and have passed the test by a licensed Veterinarian. 2015 born bulls will have a physical breeding soundness exam and deemed likely to pass a semen evaluation. Please indicate when you need your bulls. All bulls will be semen tested prior to shipment. We encourage you to buy insurance on your newly purchased bull to protest your investment. Insurance agents will be available on sale day. If your bull or female should fail to be a satisfactory breeder, he or she will be replaced with a bull or heifer of equal value. If this cannot be agreed upon, an adjustment will be made or a credit will be given towards the purchase of another on of our animals. Please check your animal frequently and contact us early if you have any questions or concerns. Double Bar D Farms will not be responsible for any ﬁnancial loss above the purchase price of the animal. Double Bar D Farms will not cover the loss of an animal that has been mismanaged or physically injured, however, we will assist you in providing another bull to use if needed. TERMS:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds. BIDDING:

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes – Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures. BREEDER’S GUARANTEE:

Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE:

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Simmental Associations. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. LIABILITIES:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that Sale Management is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on, the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does Sale Management assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. Sale Management assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS:

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. It is with great enthusiasm as I sit and write my sale management comments for the 2017” Best of Both Worlds” sale. We are constantly writing new chapters in the beef business lately and I feel 2017 will be no exception. After a rather turbulent ride in the 2016 marketplace, I feel we are starting to see a positive correction moving upward at a more attainable pace and fashion. The 2017 offering is the strongest to date. This group of bulls is the result of countless hours both searching and planning these genetic gems. The Double Bar D team has always prided themselves in providing the freshest most sought after genetics in the marketplace. Coupled along side of one of the largest Simmental cowherds in North America, the Double Bar D program has produced some of the breeds finest. This year’s group is what you would expect to find, a diverse group of stout, sound, hairy, phonetically correct set of yearling and extra aged bulls ready to go to work and built to last. As always, the sale offering will consist of Fullblood, Red, Black and Sim/Angus bulls to more than meet any producers needs, adding maternal strength to you cowherd and more pounds to each calf crop you market. The Double Bar D breeding program is constantly progressing, improving and evolving. They never seem to take their eye of the ball and are constantly raising the bar higher regarding the type of product they produce and the commitment to service for you the customer. They have been in the agriculture and the seed-stock business for multi generations and continue to grow and excel as time progresses. This program is truly one to tie to and propel your own operations forward in the future. Once again, we will have the very top cut of Greg Goudy’s Swan Lake program for your appraisal. Greg’s passion and knowledge of the Simmental breed is evident as you flip over his offering. It is with great pleasure that we offer for sale, the best set of bulls ever as a group. Our cattle and farming operation is family owned, managed and operated. We pride ourselves very deeply in the fact that we built our operation based on family values and we breed and AI to the best genetics possible. My son has come home and has been active in helping and learning the purebred business. Wow and what a year. We purchased the Johnson Stock Farms purebred cows this past spring and increased our herd to 170 cows. So we invite their customers to come on over and take a look at our great set of bulls. We also have bulls for sale in the pen as well as a selection of open purebred heifers. This year we decided to hit the show road and wow, couldn’t of asked for any thing better. Winning Grand Champion Female and Bull Calf Champion in Olds, AB; winning Grand Champion Bull at Manitoba Ag Ex and Reserve Grand Champ Heifer and Premier Exhibitor; Farm Fair we won Reserve Junior Champion Bull Calf; plus the honour of having the opportunity to make the Supreme show in Manitoba, Edmonton and the RBC in Regina. It shows me that we are on the right track producing good genetics for you the cattleman. The bulls were fed a balanced pellet ration and free choice hay and some corn silage. The bulls were given two doses of Ivomec and Express 5 Vista once, SQ modified live vaccine and first shot of Fusogard.
