I am the son of the son of Mahatma Gandhi but Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak is the son of his soul. If we were to go to meet Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, he would first greet Dr. Pathak for the noble work that he is doing and then meet me. Dr. Pathak has restored human rights and dignity to people engaged in the manual cleaning of human excreta which they carried as head-load.

The world’s biggest public toilet complex is at Pandharpur, Maharashtra, which is being constructed by Sulabh with financial help from the Government of Maharashtra. It has 2,858 toilet units in 23 locations along with locker facilities, 24x7 Health Care Centre attended by qualified doctors. There is a provision for toilets for physically challenged and VIPs. About 2 lakh people currently use this facility especially at the time of the events like Ashadi Ekadashi and Kartik Ekadashi. When completed, nearly 4.5 lakh people will be able use the facility. There is no public toilet complex parallel to this in the world.
