New museum encourages interactive fun
Coral nursery a growing success!
Imagine a museum where your children aren’t told not to touch the treasures but instead are encouraged to put their hands all over them! The new Children’s Museum Curaçao is such a place. A member of the worldwide association for children’s museums, the colorful, creative multisensory exhibits are designed to encourage investigation and promote learning through interactive play. The indoor/outdoor exhibit zones are ideal for children from ages one to eight, and the museum offers special programs and events throughout the year. www.childrensmuseumcuracao.org.
The Coral Restoration Foundation Curaçao (CRFC) celebrated their third anniversary in 2018 with activities supported by volunteers, dive operators, and Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association’s Dive Task Force. What began as a small nursery of staghorn and elkhorn corals planted on man-made “trees” outside of Lions Dive Beach Resort grew so fruitful they have since been able to outplant over 4,000 juvenile corals to other island dive sites. You might have noticed great new improvements at the Curaçao International Airport lately. With a larger, modern new arrivals hall, a closed-in mirador observation tower for nonpassengers, and lots of new food, drink, and shopping, the US $48 million expansion project is in full swing. When complete, the newly renovated terminal will be 80 percent larger, and modern technology like e-gates and biometric scanning will make passenger traffic flow faster and better equip them to receive the million plus visitors they welcome each year.
