The strategic plan will guide the system’s direction over the next five years and is the result of many conversations with the school board, teachers and school leaders as well as engagement with parents and the community.

The class with the most participation will be announced on the intercom each day. We will celebrate on Friday with a culminating poster contest, each class will create a poster and we will announce a classroom winner for each grade level!!!!

The plan is posted at www.fultonschools.org/StrategicPlan2017.

Operational Planing In November 2011, Fulton County voters approved a one-penny education sales tax to fund new schools, renovations and additions, and provide enhanced technology across the county. The five-year building and construction plan calls for some of the district’s most outdated schools to be replaced with new state-of-the-art facilities. In order to move forward with those plans, three elementary schools in South Fulton – Oak Knoll, Harriet Tubman, and Mt. Olive – are slated for closure due to aging facility conditions. These would be replaced by two new schools – one at the former College Park Elementary School site and another at a yet-to-be-determined location. If approved by the school board, the schools would be closed after the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 school years.
To share information and gather input, a series of meetings are planned for late October, November and December. School system staff will explain the redistricting process, collect information for drawing revised attendance zones, gather input on future use for the facilities, and share information on the two replacement schools scheduled to open in fall 2014 and 2016. The schedule for the three rounds of community meetings are as follows: •Round 1 – Monday, Oct. 29 (Woodland MS) and Tuesday, Oct. 30 (Banneker HS) •Round 2 – Monday, Nov. 26 (Woodland MS) and Tuesday, Nov. 27 (Banneker HS) •Round 3 – Monday, Dec. 10 (Woodland MS) and Tuesday, Dec. 11 (Banneker HS)

Each meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Parents should only plan to attend one meeting per round at either location. Final recommendations will be presented in January 2013 with approval expected in February. Regards,

Yngrid L. Jones-Huff Executive Director, Operational Planning

Many family traditions are celebrated during the month of October from fall festivals to Halloween. What we must remember as these events are going on is to keep on our SWT Thinking Cap. These are memorable times in the lives of our children and we love to see them get dressed up! But as parents and educators we must remember the most important part of their attire is always the love they feel from the support of their elders. Whether they choose to tell you or not, they look up to you to model who they will one day become. So as a role model of the students here at Stonewall Tell Elementary we must also set the trends for them to follow. Setting trends is not an easy task; especially when we are hoping to impress upon the minds of our youth. The youth of today many times see the trends of their elders as “uncool but it is all in the way you carry yourself. Here at Stonewall Tell Elementary School, we teach our children that they should always be setting trends by exceeding the standards that are set before them. By going above and beyond to show your child they are loved encourages them to WANT to exceed any standard they are given. Positive reinforcement from all around is the best medicine to give to a child who may not being doing his or her best in school. While letting the children know that someone is depending on them to do a good job it warms them up inside which makes them look better on the outside. As the fall winds begin to blow stronger it’s good to have a warm heart and a positive sound mind. Ms. Golden
