RVIEW Andraca

S imon its another one of the most talented freestyle fixed gear riders. Last time I did see him at Trick Trick... Boom where he was shreding like a maniac.. latest news from Simon below!!

SOFB- What makes you so good at riding fixed? S-I think It’s mostly because of my balance SOFB- Tell us about the last two competitions you went to. S- The west jam has been the biggest and the sickest contest I went too, under the portugese sun ! It was intense and mad fun, with crazy riders landing insane tricks, I did well with my bent frame , glad to finish third. and the trick trick boom was smaller, I didn’t have a frame so I didn’t wanted to compet, but mike schmitt let me used his GOAT bike (thanks to him, love this guy) so I finish third because of a big gap followed by a landing on a rail, double pegs while that mike was shredin on the megaphone haha people rode hard that day, in the end it was pretty cool, I’m very impressed of the turning fixed gear is taking. SOFB- Do you like to ride street or park more? Are you better at one more than the other? S- I like both, It’s two totally different things, a park is a playground full of possibilities, It makes you creative and push you to do beautiful lines. But in the same time, there is nothing better than riding on a perfect urban spot, sometimes it almost looks like it has been designed for riding, more than skateparks I think I could progress in parks, you have a bigger margin of error, things you’ll learn in park will help you out in the streets SOFB- How do you get pumped to ride hard? S- I feel like I would “be nothing without other riders”, it’s hard to push yourself on your own, and even more hard to get better if there isn’t any challenges or even opinions exchange SOFB- How do you set up your pedals before you get to an obstacle? S- I love huge gaps and cliff things, by the way we went mental with Oscar at Death or Glory with this kind of things, good souvenir, weirdly it something I like very much, halfway between danger and violence, the risk you takes ...

SOFB- You inspire a lots of new riders what you will say to them S- I’m glad to see that, but i dont feel comfy about it, i don’t really know what i should tell them except that they should get mentally prepared to eat the pavement at every single meal, anyway it’s good to see the interest for the street fixed gear growing up SOFB- How important is your crew? Do they get you stoked? S- yeah definetly, without my crew UGH, I couldn’t have been able to progress during few months, I’ve been without a decent bike (broken frames), they enable me to keep progress, big up at renaud bambou and his disappeared sick rusty bike ! SOFB- What is the next of your prijects? S- keep going on with the same ideas since it started, just to see how far it goes, travelling and meeting other riders in the world, and live day by day SOFB- Could you please discibe your new frame.. .. how far you can push it? S- my new frame is pretty sick, my last one snapped in Lisboa, and this one still didn’t broke, and I tryed hard to break it, but still alive, so it might means something ! I can’t really talk about , we will keep the surprise I just would like to thanks Manuel from traffic ! SOFB- Tell as about your coming month. and where are you at the moment? S- tons of things, this month will go fast I think, I’m planning on a big weekend in london with my man Alex redux, just to check out this already famous new park, shred and chill with ninjacats, since a long time we want to come very bad, just ro ride left side ! there is also a contest at lille organised by my friends from NUCULT SOFB- and last question what we can wish you? S- to have a decent ridable bike with airs in my tires and quality drugs for again few years

I was not the only one thinking about race on the track this year.. I ask for some informations and his experience with picking up Track Racing Rudy Melo, thats what he did say:

“I really wanted to start riding on the track this year, so it’s great that Herne Hill Velodrome is still up and running here in London. HH track sessions happen every week from around March to October – obviously depending on the weather, as it’s an outdoor track.

Herne Hill Velodrome

I have been attending pretty much every week this season and started by doing track induction, which is needed before you can ride any other session. I stayed on basic training for a few weeks till I felt confident enough to move on to intermediate, which is much tougher than I thought – but it’s great and I love it.

STOKED ON FIXED BIKES

I’ve made a few friends at HH, and the guys from The 5th Floor come down to the track with me too. It’s kind of cool having a group of mates riding with you – it gets quite competitive between us and we end up motivating each other. The community at Herne Hill is really good and there’s a great vibe. A big thank you must go out to the coaches and volunteers who give their valuable time to make sure that track sessions happen every week.”

SFX -

Silesia Fixed About SFX you could hear from popular blogs like Prolly http://prollyisnotprobably.com/ and others. Some time ago I contact with SFX and we spoke about possible session. Happened faster then we expect.. SOFB presenting SFX Beginning of SFX that’s year 2008 when SFX have only four members. In short time more people get in to fixed riding and in 2011 have more then 10 members including girls which train tricks a lot and getting better. Hopefully soon you will have chance to see them at European comps. Fixed Bikes in area of Silesia agglomeration still counts as a exotic sport. No shops and community which you need to build from beginning, still each member did have contact with bikes previously. From extreme sports we did have contact with skateboard.. which have it’s of things common with fixed bikes trough needs of constant focus and creativity while you ride. Are group get more in to fixed freestyle.. spending hours on getting trick right that’s our speciality. Bike setup coming from that too (fat tyres, tough frame, wild bars , spiny ratio). Lake every one knows hard work brings results and from last year SFX have help from NIKE SPORTSWEAR and from this session works with VEGANSKI and ASPHALT Bikes Please visit us at our flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/silesiafixed/ where you can follow are progress. Thanks all the best SFX Great people and good friends.. All girls in this group are really charismatic about fixed bikes and there are great example for others. To be honest looking forward to ride with them again .. I’m sure you will see them more in next Issues of SOFB...

Dave disaster

Tyler scotch-egg traditional in FGL

Tyler Johnson rocked into town under little fanfare.........however, word got around with a little help from Oscar & FB to meet up at Clissold Skatepark the next morning. Unfortunately Tyler didn’t have his “ride” with him.....as he pretty much came straight from Redbull Ride & Style!! He turned up with LFG, Andy & Dave for a bit of fun......a little later, a small crew of riders turned up and then the party started! Andy & Tyler “killed” it on sk8boards, Dave was “ripping” it on his whip. To top off the day, the sun was out and the beer started “flowing”....... Happy Days! A wicked time was had by all.......
