Technology Technology The rapid advancement and use of technology within the last two decades has now all but confirmed that we are all living in a new age world of technology, where everyday different types, sizes and styles of technology are frequently and easily used by the masses for a variety of purposes.
Retail Industry The retail industry has seen an extreme shift in the number of people exploring and consuming items online after researching the product themselves, instead of travelling to the high street and asking the shop assistant. Giving an easier, faster and more comfortable experience.
CONCEPT
‘Bar Code’ merges this new age culture with the up close and personal attributes of physical shopping on the high street to create a no hassle, fast, easy, modern environment and experience which would work remarkably well with the target market of busy, on the go, young professionals. The concept of no human interaction and everything processed through technology such as smart phones, email, text and bar codes suits the young professionals market perfectly.

The ingoing and outgoing conveyor belts within the shop are essential to the bicycle ‘drop off repair service’ offered by the Bar Code bicycles chain. Customers can ride there bicycle into the shop and once they have filled in questions and info on what is wrong with their bicycle on the ‘check in computer’ at the entrance zone they can place it on the ingoing conveyor belt which is made up
of two Plate Link Straight conveyor belts and one Swan Neck conveyor belt, where it will travel along the side of the shop to the hidden workshop at the rear. Here the bicycle will be examined by an expert technician, who will in turn give the customer a description of what needs done and give a quote of how much the work will cost through an SMS text or email.
If the customer confirms and pays for the work to be completed, online or at the self service checkouts, the technician will carry out the repair work on the bicycle and then place it on the outgoing conveyor belt where it will travel to the front of the shop where the customer can pick it up and ride off.
