Today is the Feast Day of Saint Valentine of Rome, a third century priest, who was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. Explore the Stations of the Cross Friday evenings during Lent at 6:00 in the Church. Reminder: Drive Carefully. School Zone. Please take care when you drive through the Saint Michael campus. We have two schools, the Saint Michael Episcopal School and the Episcopal School of Dallas Lower School, in session during the week. Keep your speed below 10 MPH, don’t use your cell phone, and watch carefully for an excited child that may run across the road before looking. Saint Michael Episcopal School is Out for Presidents’ Day. There are no classes tomorrow at the Saint Michael Episcopal School for Presidents’ Day. Classes resume on Tuesday, February 16. Saint Michael Book Shop Features Thistle Farms Products. New Thistle Farms items are in! The Book Shop has a great selection of room sprays, bath salts, lotions and healing oils in a variety of scents. With every purchase Thistle Farms helps women survivors of addiction, trafficking and violence. Acolyte Training Scheduled in February. Become a member of Saint Michael’s Acolyte Corps, recognized as one of the best in the Episcopal Church. Annual Meeting February 28, 10:00 in the Church. New Vestry members, Diocesan Convention delegates, and Foundation Trustees will be elected at the Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, February 28 at 10:00 in the Church. The 11:00 Rite I worship service will be held in the Saint Michael Chapel, and children will get a Vacation Bible School preview in the Youth Center. PT Cruisers Venture to the African American Museum. The PT Cruisers are going to the African American Museum in Fair Park this Thursday, February 18. The bus leaves the church at 9:30. After the museum tour, the PT Cruisers will lunch at Celebration restaurant. Cost of the tour plus lunch is $16. Make reservations by today with Mary Davis at 214-363-7761. Parish Nurses Promote Healthy Hearts. Parish Nurse Sunday is February 21, with the focus on Healthy Hearts. Celebrate Women’s History Month at the annual Mother-Daughter Tea at the Jubilee Park Community Center March 5. The tea, with lunch, craft stations, and a photo booth, will be from 12:00 – 2:00. Saint Michael Presents the Boston Brass Next Sunday, February 21
The Boston Brass, which has enthralled audiences around the world, headlines the Sunday, February 21 Saint Michael Presents community concert. The program ranges from classical to jazz, and everything in-between. And, the audience chooses the second-half of the program. Come join the fun. The concert is free, but tickets are necessary to ensure adequate seating. Tickets are available online or at the reception desk.
