Descriptions All out Sports after VBS Each day we will explore a different sport and keep the athletes moving and working on different hand-eye coordination skills. Athletes will also be given free time in the gym and outside on the playground. Sports that will be covered are soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball and the last day we will climb the SLES ROCK WALL and have an epic game day. Instructor: Coach Burton

Annie, Express Version Come sing and dance along to Annie, the play ! Join Ms. Haverda and Ms. Delgado in the production of Annie! Students will engage in learning choreography and memorizing lines for Annie! The program will be filmed and sent to all participants for all to see, a treasure of memory that will last a lifetime! Instructors: Ms. Haverda Mrs. Delgado Art Camp This camp is designed for students who love art and would like to learn how to use a variety of media and enhance their skills. Students will create with clay, learn to weave with a loom, build paper mache and paint with acrylic paint on canvas. Instructor: Mrs. Bennett SLES Art Teacher Ballet Ballet is an elegant, highly structured dance form that teaches students self-discipline and develops an awareness of proper alignment. Our ballet classes focus on instilling an understanding of proper technique as students progress from beginning to advanced vocabulary. Students will also develop a sense of musicality and artistry, better coordination, strength and flexibility, and classroom etiquette. We also seek to instill a joy and love for dancing while maintaining a good work ethic in class! Instructor: Vanessa Besler/DSCA Inst. SLES Dance instructor


Basketball Camp Players will work on ball handling skills, proper shooting form, passing, defense, and pivoting fundamentals as well as play fun games while learning the rules of the game. Everyone will leave with greater basketball knowledge and improved skills. Instructor: Coach Tolentino Count Me in Math Each day will include hands-on activities and fun math games to practice math concepts. A perfect camp to review the critical skills needed to be successful in elementary school. computation, problem solving, and vocabulary will all be incorporated in this fun and engaging camp. This camp is designed to help prepare incoming 3rd through 5th grade students for their upcoming math class. Instructor: Mrs. Corso SLES Math Teacher

Culinary Science This course teaches the basics of nutrition, meal planning, and cooking. Students will learn about kitchen equipment and tools, principles of food-borne illnesses, kitchen safety, and selection/storage of food. Each day students will have an appetizer, side, entree, or dessert. Instructor: Mrs. Wentlandt SLES English Teacher

Extreme Sports Let’s stay in shape the fun way ! This extreme gym games program will keep your kids running and having fun this summer time. We will do nothing but the best gym games such as: Dodgeball, Popcorn, Nukem, Infection, Line Tag, large Foursquare, Pac- Man. Coach: Ms. Haverda SLES Volleyball Coach


Hip Hop Hip-hop dance is an energetic and physically challenging dance form that encompasses a variety of styles including breaking, locking and popping. This class teaches the fundamentals of these techniques, while challenging the student's physicality, rhythm and individual expression. Instructor: Vanessa Bessler/DCSA Inst. SLES Dance Instructor

Intro to Musical Instruments In this musical instrument overview students will begin learning about the different types of musical instruments. Students will be immersed in the begining concepts of playing the piano, guitar, drums and so much more! Students will also learn the different roles of instruments in different musical styles. Instructor: Elijah Zehring

Junior Code Breakers The board game Clue is coming to life and coming to St. Luke’s Episcopal School! Let’s get cracking! Come learn about the diverse world of coding the fun way. Students will solve mysteries using codes and different algorithms. Students will learn critical thinking skills, problem solving and teamwork. Come solve the mystery at Spy Camp. Instructor: Ms. Haverda Lego Architecture If you can dream it, we can build it ! Stem learning at its most creative with Ms. Lingua ! Instructor: Ms. Lingua

Nature Adventure Let's get outside and explore the great outdoors. Campers will explore the beauty of the great outdoors, learn about the world around us while having a blast. Campers will experience bug hunts, nature walks, and learn about plants! Instructors: Ms. Haverda Mrs. Delgado


Out of this World Space Rockets Let’s get out of this world and explore space! Campers will build their own rockets from scratch and even send them off on the last day of the program. We will learn about the stars and do several space crafts. Instructor: Ms. Haverda

Pokemon Masters Pokemons are taking over the St. Luke’s Campus ! Come help Mr. Frank and capture all the Pokemons as fast as possible. Join Mr. Frank in a week of fun activities all centered around the diverse world of Pokemon. Junior Pokemon masters will have fun creating their very own pokemon, trading and practice pokemon dueling. Instructor: Mr. Frank

Slime Time Science Do you like ooey and gooey projects? Do you like getting your hands dirty and sticky? This camp will explore and experiment with wild colors and extreme ingredients. For the little scientist in all of us, we will explore the scientific method and create our own hypothesis for each experimental outcome. Instructors: Ms. Haverda Mrs. Delgado Songwriting Production Camp In this songwriting production camp, students will be introduced to musical forms and different musical genres grasping the roots of creativity and inspiration through song writing. At the end of the week, students will work together to produce their very own song. Student will perform their very own song at the end of the week. Instructor: Elijah Zehring

Sweet Creations Let's get baking! Join Ms. Raven as we explore the science of baking cupcakes and desserts. In this camp students will learn about measurements and work as a team to create and design their sweet creations. Students will also participate in dramatic play as these campers will recreate their very own dessert shop. Instructor: Ms. Haverda


Tykes on the Go This summer session is all about getting our little ones moving ! Program focuses on fine motor skills developed in fun activities. Instructor: Mrs. Delgado

Volleyball Camp Come get the rust out for the 2019 volleyball season and join Coach Haverda on the court. We will practice proper techniques for passing, serving, attacking as well as offensive and defensive techniques. Coach Haverda Is the SLES A team volleyball coach and an experienced beach volleyball player. Coach Haverda has played on several different competitive tours around Texas. She is excited to share her plethora of experience in this summer session. Coach: Haverda

Instructor Biographies Mrs. Bennett Amanda Bennett has been at SLES for 3 years. She holds a BFA and has been teaching for 10 years. In addition to teaching, she has illustrated 2 published children's books, does commission work and holds painting workshops. She has three children, one grand baby and is a military spouse. Mr. Frank Mr. Frank Ramirez is an enrichment teacher at St. Luke’s Episcopal. Mr. Frank is a retired teacher from Southwest Art Institute Center.

Ms. Haverda Raven Haverda started school at SLES at the age of 3 and currently works in the Newman Library and is the SLES A & B team volleyball coach. Go Tigers Go! Ms. Haverda studied business at the University of Incarnate Word and is now pursuing a professional path in behavioral health through Arizona State University.


Ms. Lingua Monica Lingua is thrilled to be sharing a part of her summer teaching a beginning cooking class called Little Chefs. She has been teaching for 10 years, and she is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BA in education. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her two children, camping, reading, and cooking! She loves when a simple meal brings people together to share love, laughter, and warm memories. Join her this summer as we cook and learn together!

Coach Tolentino Candace Tolentino has coached middle and high school basketball and middle school volleyball for 15 years. She has coached basketball in both the private school setting and with Sophia Young basketball club. She is the Athletic Coordinator and a PE teacher at St. Luke's Episcopal School. Mrs. Wentlandt Jen Wentlandt is a graduate of UT Austin and Northwestern College, with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has been the middle level English teacher and volleyball coach at SLES since 2017. Mr. Zehring Elijah Seth Zehring is a musician, composer, producer and educator based in San Antonio,Texas. He has twenty eight years of experience in diverse genres and music venues. He has been an educator for 14 years with the last 10 at the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts. He is presently serving in ministry as a worship leader and is Vice President on the Board of Directors at the SA Tabernacle. He is currently working on multiple projects that include music creation, music performance, music production, music devotion, music education, artist development and music literature.
