ims2fanbg has been creating c u s t o m c o n t e n t m u s t- h av e s since The Sims 2. With almost 10 million downloads, spanning three games, she is a practically a grande dame of Sims fashion. We were so happy to see her make the leap again to The Sims 4! Sims2fanbg content ranges from fun everyday choices to sparkling formals and everything in between. It’s unbelievable that it’s taken us this long to feature her, so let’s not wait another moment... Thank you for taking the time to speak with us Sims2fanbg. Please tell us a bit about yourself. I was born and I live in Bulgaria. I have a lot of interests and hobbies - creating clothes for sims, make-up, cooking, studying 3d design, sports and many

others. I really wish I had more free time, but it appears that there is always not enough. I like playing online games. I have a lot of dreams which I hope to realize some day. There is such a wide variety in your creations. How would you describe your personal style? My main goal is to make a variety of clothes for Sims. I managed to learn sims’s fans wants and desires. They love to have clothes which they personally would wear in their everyday life - realistic, sexy, semimodern with great detail. I myself love wearing clothes and “edgy” clothes. I like high-end fashion, but not everyone can afford such clothes. Fortunately, I manage to find some in a few stores. It seems like so long ago. Why did you start creating for The Sims? What keeps you going? I always love seeing my creations downloaded more than 1000 times a day. I love that my clothes are one of the most downloaded, and it really gives me such satisfaction. I also get motivated by the competition. I don’t want my clothes to be any less than other artists’. I’m also motivated by the feeling
to improve. Sometimes... when I think I know everything, there is always something new that I learn (like a technique in Photoshop or other 3d programs that I work with). I hope to continue creating, and there’s still interest in The Sims games.
How difficult has it been for you t make the transition to The Sims 4 What tools do you use to create? Honestly, it wasn’t difficult. I wait until there were tools and to learn little bit more about the textures th the game uses. I wanted my creatio to be flaw-free from the start. That why I didn’t rush it. I was still makin clothes for The Sims 3, and I think they turned out great quality in the end. I don’t want to say I’ll never make clothes for The Sims 3 again, but at this point, I want to continue making things for The Sims 4. What you

like the most about creating for The Sims 4? What are some of the challenges? I like the fact that there are not so many textures. On one hand it’s great that clothes cannot change colous because they turn out more realistic. I always try to add color choices for my clothes so people who like my clothes are satisfied. My biggest challenge is to incorporate my meshes created with 3d max into the game. It’s still not completely possible, but I hope to manage soon. I have a lot of ideas and meshes which I want to work on.

The other challenge for me is to create hair for The Sims 4. I doubt I will manage to do it in the following months due to the fact that I’m more focused on making clothes at the moment, but sooner or later, I will do it. What advice do you have for someone who would like to start creating? My advice is always: Don’t rush, and create your own style. With good ideas and more practice, you will manage to find a lot of followers. In closing, what would you like to see more of for the future of The Sims 4 and in the The Sims community as a whole? I would like to see new expansion packs for the Sims 4 and more people starting playing the game.

oming from the ghettos of Bridgeport to the runways of Champs Les Sims and the pages of SF Magazine, the life of Justice Keene hasn’t always been a “crystal stair,” but it has certainly been memorable. Today, the muse of AsiaShaMecca tells why the life of a supermodel has never really been the life she wants. Well this is funny isn’t it? Is this the part where I pretend I don’t know you for the sake of the interview? Girl, please! I’d like to see you try. *laughs* That’d be a neat trick since I’m YOUR Muse. I don’t even know what to say here. Sometimes when you see that face, as a photographer there is just a synergy, like David Bailey and Catherine Deneuve. From the minute I saw you in that dive on the East Side... I just had to photograph you.
God… has that been forever??? Doors opened for me thanks to you. I’ve been through it all, baby. I’m mother courage. I’ve done runway, lingerie, swimwear. I’ve worked with other shooters, but it always feels… natural when we work together. It just doesn’t seem like you work quite as much as you could, though. I’ve seen you turn down projects that an aspiring model would jump at. You know modeling is a job for me. It isn’t a way of life. I do what I do so I can live how I like to live, but I’ve never wanted “the life.” There was a time when what made me a model felt like a curse. Growing up was kind of miserable. A 5’11” knock-kneed 14 year old is the butt of many jokes. At first, when I started getting jobs, it was like… everything I hated about me was suddenly a bonus. I went a little crazy. But the actual life of a model is different from what people think. They just see the tabloids and the
glamour. To always be aware of your face, your figure, to always have to wonder if your hair and nails are perfect -- it’s not healthy. Maybe for a few years. Not for a lifetime.

I’ve done well, but I’m not famous. I’m no Cassidy. But in this business, doing well means a lot. For every Naomi Campbell that earns millions, there are a hundred girls that get paid in clothes or free lunch or $150

Pushing The Limits In this issue, I had the pleasure of interviewing an amazing and gifted young Machinima maker, Mr. Gus Rockman. Gus is no stranger to great machinima as he is an award winning director and an intricate part of the Sims International Film Festival team. MARK STONE:
Tell us a bit about yourself and your inspiration in creating horror machinima movies?
GUS ROCKMAN Hello there! My name in the community is Gus (short for Agustin) Rockman. I’m a machinima maker from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and part of Simatography and the SIFF staff. I take inspiration for my machinimas from all sorts of media: games, movies, TV shows, music. Usually an idea strikes my head, and I start developing from there. For my short horror machinima, Dead Dream, I was inspired by a Notable nightmare I had very similar to it, and then took elements from the Silent Hill games and The Walking Dead series. Right now, I have a new full length horror project which is heavily inspired by Dead Space and Alien. MARK STONE:
We love your film, Neon. Tell us a bit about that project.

Don’t we all? I started that project in 2010, and I intended to release it the next year. It was my first big project with The Sims 3 and a lot of new techniques I learned over the years, so I didn’t realize it would take me longer than that and ended up releasing it for SIFF Spring 2012 in March. At first, it was going to be a series about different stories/people struggling with different problems in the city. During the development, I wanted to incorporate a lot of different art styles, and that’s where I thought about doing the alternate universes scenario. I had a lot of inspiration for this project: Tron Legacy, Blade Runner, Fallout, Bioshock, among others. You are a major participant and staffer for SIFF. Is there anything new we should expect from SIFF next season?

We are always working behind the scenes on the next big thing and discussing new plans, but one thing is for sure: You can definitely
expect more machinima next season! The amount of entries has been increasing each season, which makes us really proud of our festival and community.

We hear that you are working on a new project for next year’s SIFF. Can you give SF Magazine the goods on that project?
GUS ROCKMAN
Well, I’ve actually been working on at least six projects so far. Some were due for quite some time, but as I learn new things, my projects get more and more ambitious, which in return demand more time to be developed. The projects that I aim to release during SIFF are The Rocky Horror Simmer Show, and my fantasy series Fabula Nova Plumbum. Hopefully I’ll have enough time during my Summer break to finish one or both which I’d love to share next SIFF, but I can’t promise anything!

You are an amazing Machinima director and the Sims Community seem to really enjoy your work. Are there any upcoming projects that you would like to produce?
GUS ROCKMAN
I’m looking forward to start working on NEON 2 since I have a lot of surprises for that trilogy, and I’d like to start working on my space-horror machinima Damned Souls, too. Other than that I’m really excited for The Rocky Horror Simmer Show, which I think will set a milestone in my artistic skills, and the interactivity of One Day In the Life of an NPC. I love to experiment, so I have projects for every taste in my repertoire.

What tips or advice could you give to new Sim machinima makers as far as filming and producing a successful series?
GUS ROCKMAN
Right now, I’m in the process of re-editing some scenes for a special something before NEON 2, so stay tuned for that!
I think the best advice would be to not rush it. Try to develop the overall arc of the story you want to tell, which doesn’t need to be detailed, but something that will guide your vision when filming or writing the scripts. Another piece of good advice would be to get good voice actors. Sometimes the quality of the audio is key to keeping the audience engaged. Crappy sound quality could ruin an otherwise great story. Try keeping an eye on the machinima makers we nominate to Masters each season at SIFF, for they make good use of all these things I’m mentioning. e know that it was built sometime in the late 15th century. The name comes from local folklore. Supposedly there was a regional species of reindeer that became extinct which had a bluish pelt and appeared to remain suspended in the air for an inordinate length of time when leaping. What the correlation is between the lore and the name, we don’t know. In 1859 a school master living at the castle published a Christmas poem linking the flying deer to Sinterklaas and the everevolving Christmas tale. Because the Dutch invent everything that sticks, the poem went viral and the rest is as they say. While remaining in the current family’s ownership for over 300 years, it has had a commercial presence only in the last few decades. It houses a tavern and tasting room wine cellar, six exquisite guest suites, and a fine French cuisine restaurant called Beaulieu, or “beautiful place.” Everything is created from ingredients either from the estate gardens or from the local market. Combining this with obsessive culinary excellence and passionate customer service, it is no wonder the Michelin double star has found a permanent home here. The menu and bar list has been craftily woven around the legend, with drinks created after each reindeer in the 1859 poem. My take-away moment involved the drink combo of Bliksem & Donder, Dutch for “lightning” and “thunder.” The tender was already locked and loaded into instructional mode, left elbow cocked just so on the bar with me in his crosshairs. I spotted it on the list, and I took the bait.

“OK, I gotta ask, why are Donder & Bliksem flipped around?” Boom-shakalaka, reel in the carrot, I saw it in his eyes and quasi-restrained grin. “Here’s the thing,” he said as he plinked down two small glasses and busied his hands in preparation for the prestige. “All artists take license where needed, and that’s what he did with the poem to make it rhyme. Sanders,” he said, deftly segueing into questions about my favorite topic… me. The man was a skilled craftsman. I never asked him to serve me the drink, but do you think I took umbrage? The grounds, architecture and décor are all stunning. It is, however, these experiential moments that cause the physical imagery to burn that much more deeply and fondly into one’s memory banks.

Thank you Bill, it is lovely to be here. My name is Louise. I am 53, married with three beautiful adult daughters. I live in a coastal town on the east coast of New South Wales, Australia. When did you first start playing The Sims series, and what are your favorite aspects of the game? I have been playing The Sims from the very first game. I had some major encouragement from my daughters to start, and from then on I have been well and truly hooked. I especially love the design and landscape aspects of the game. One might easily think you’re a builder in real life, too. Or a landscape designer. Do you have a background in architecture, art, or design, or is this all just a hobby? It is a much loved hobby. I do like to design in real life though and have designed, landscaped, and built our own home and also furniture.

What is your favorite style of architecture and design? I like more traditional types of architecture, particularly smaller builds. I love all the gorgeous American bungalows that are in my street. What made you want to start sharing your builds with the world? Sharing my builds gives me pleasure and I hope that people use them and have fun with them. What is your favorite aspect of building--the architecture, landscaping, interior design, or just playing the lot when it’s finally done? What are your greatest challenges when building a lot? Architecture and landscaping are my favorite part of building. The main challenge for building for me is making the interior layout work within the outer shell which I always build first. How do you design your builds? Do you sketch them out beforehand? From where do you draw your inspiration? Do you get your ideas from particular real-life buildings or do your ideas just come to mind when you go into “Build Mode�? I normally I draw my inspiration from pictures, TV shows, or real life. I rarely sketch them first and go straight into build mode where they take on a life of their own.
