Application for courses

At Korean universities the application process for courses can be similar to a lottery, and you will need a dose of luck to get into the courses you want. Always be prepared and have a list of backup courses you would like to take. There is also a strict time period in which the application process takes place. Check the dates and remind yourself to log in on time so you won’t be disappointed.

Seniors and juniors

At university, students call their seniors “선배” seonbae, and they in turn call their juniors “후배” hubae. However, there is more meaning to this relationship than you might expect. 선배 are expected to take care of their 후배 by helping them with school work and even paying for their meals. In return, the 후배 is expected to reward their 선배 by assisting them with simple tasks and listening to them. The people you meet at university, and especially your 선배, can be a great help for finding a job or even a partner. So networking and sustaining good relations with your 선배 and 후배 is an important element
