Northbrook Primary Academy Design Technology whole school overview
Autumn Spring Summer Additional Unit
EYFS
Year 1
The progression of learning for children in art and design is underpinned by the learning intentions outlined in the “Development Matters non-statutory curriculum guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage”. This builds on their understanding of artists techniques and skills within art as well as being vital to the development of core speaking and listening and fine motor development. This links directly to their progression towards the not only the “Expressive arts and design” early learning goal but also some key areas of physical development and communication and language.
Children will: safely use and explore a range of tools and techniques, show accuracy and care whilst drawing, use small tools such as paint brushes and scissors, hold a pencil effectively in preparation for fluent drawing and mark marking
