There is a Summer Showcase happening towards the end of this half term, it is taking place on Thursday 23rd May at 6pm. This is a celebration of performing arts, including dance, singing, music, and poetry. Children will be bringing home a letter today inviting them to perform on the evening. This will be children who are in the after school choir club, have performed at some dance festivals over the school year and some children who have been learning an instrument with music teachers during the school day. There is an opportunity for all children to be involved in the event through the Summer Showcase Art Competition. More information about this is further down in the newsletter but it would be fabulous if we had lots of entries for this competition, which we will celebrate on the Summer Showcase evening by displaying the artwork. Thank you to parents/guardians who are respectful with parking around the school site. As a school we need to ensure we work with residents to respect their parking rights, it therefore helps us considerably if you use the drop off area for this purpose and not park your car there. With the start of better weather, please try to park away and walk to school. The vast majority of our families use The Botanic Gardens for this purpose and it definitely ensures a lovely start and end to the day. We appreciate not all families can do this and therefore we ask that families respect the mindful parking around school. Have a lovely weekend, Mrs Payne!

SKILLS FOR LIFE

This half term, the value that Churchtown is developing is Skills for Life. At the end of the half term, value champions will be nominated for each class.

ATTENDANCE

The year groups with the best attendance this week are:

1st Place – Year 3 (98.8%) - awarded 2 points

2nd Place – Year 4 (97.9%) – awarded 1 point

This week’s attendance champions are Year 4 Pine for 100% punctuality!

BUDDY ASSEMBLY GROUPS

Each week in the ‘Friday Praise Assembly’ we have been checking the totals of the Buddy assembly groups. Classes and children gain points for super behaviour.

Usborne Sponsored Read Event ‘Ready Steady Read’ and ‘Ready Steady Listen’

Letters and sponsorship forms were sent home with children in March, to enable them to be sponsored to read and listen, which in turn will raise money for books for our school.

Please ensure all sponsorship forms, together with money, are returned to the school office as soon as possible.

We would like to thank everyone for their participation and kind sponsorship.

Art Competition

We are inviting all children to take part in the Churchtown Art Competition. The theme is 'Summer' and the artwork can use any media e.g. pencils, pens, paint or collage. This is an exciting opportunity for the children to be as creative as they would like and produce artwork that will be displayed in school for the Summer Showcase on the 23rd May. All entries must be handed in by Friday May 17th to your child's teacher and have their name and class on the back.

Happy creating!

The Churchtown Summer Showcase

We are delighted to announce that there will be a Summer Showcase on the 23rd May at 6pm, celebrating Music, Dance, Art and Poetry. More information on the event including how to purchase tickets is in a letter which the children who have been invited to perform will be bringing home. This promises to be a fantastic evening.
