“Going to the fair” has been an American institution for over 150 years. County fairs bring us together. For the participants, it is a gallery of opportunity divided into spaces showcasing animals, arts & crafts, horticulture, entertainment, and competition. First timers and grand champions compete side by side for ribbons and the chance to become the “best of show.” For fair goers strolling along the midway or inside exhibit halls, the fair can be an extravagant exhibition of food, folks, animals, entertainment, and fun. The Atlantic County 4-H Fair has been keeping that tradition alive since 1948. Every summer at the beginning of August the Fairgrounds in Egg Harbor City comes alive with kids, livestock, carnival rides and contests. Admission is FREE but there is a $4 parking fee.
