The SBA College Fair Today, SBA is hosting a college fair for all student to attend with their 8th period class. For some, this will be their first introduction to the collegiate world. Others may have already committed to their school. Regardless, this will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about what is out there for our students beyond their SBA days and what is important to achieve here to help them make it the school of their choice. We encourage you to talk to your student about their experience at the fair. And remember, our college counselor, Ms. Scates, is available to help your student through this often overwhelming college admissions process. To see a full listing of the schools who will be in attendance, please check out this post (created by Junior Sophia Moore) from our instagram account earlier this week.

Senior Retreat Leaders Speaker Series Our Senior Retreat Leaders have been hard at work on some powerful testimonies. The work

started this summer at Discipleship Camp and throughout the year, these students are going to bravely share these stories with their peers. The first sessions will be in the Chapel this Friday, September 24. Sarah Karguaer and Alan Bernal will speak on "Crisis or No Crisis." Neely Taylor and Grayson Hoskin will be sharing on "True Belonging," and Jesslyn Card and Brandon Bader will be discussing "Why God Allows Certain Things to Happen." Our faith is the foundation of our school and we are so grateful to these students for sharing what it means to them.

Eucharistic Adoration at the Nest A favorite tradition at SBA is First Friday Eucharistic Adoration. Parents are needed in the Chapel during these hours each month. Please email Father Dexter to offer a time and day you would like be present with the Lord.

A Note from Dr. Fischer on Student Absences Dear Parents, We are noticing that we have more absences and more students checking in and out of school than is typical. In an effort to be proactive, we are sending this reminder that students who are absent or check in or out of class for reasons other than illness, must have my approval in order for the absence to be excused. If a student is sick or has a doctor/dentist appointment, as always, we ask the student to bring in the doctor’s note to the front office when returning to school. Parents should continue to call the attendance line or email attendance@sbaeagles.org in the morning if your student is ill or has an appointment. I know we all agree that students need to be in class as much as possible as it will increase their knowledge and understanding of course material. Thank you for helping us with this! Dr. Elizabeth Brock Fischer Assistant Principal/Academic Dean

Did You Know? SBA Business Directory If you are interested in being featured as a spotlight member of the SBA Business Directory, you can join here. We will feature a member every month.

Attendance While we certainly hope that the steps we are taking to reduce the spread of any communicable illnesses will lower overall absences this year, we know they will happen. Whenever a student must be absent from school, a parent or guardian should call the school office (901.260.2893) or email us at attendance@sbaeagles.org before 9:00am to notify us of the reason. Upon the student's return to school, he or she must bring a doctor's note, if applicable, and a written statement signed by the parent stating the reason for the absence. This must be brought to the office before the student's first period class.

The Eagle Cafe The Eagle Cafe is back and better than ever this year. Your old favorites like the legendary cookies and meatloaf with sides haven't gone anywhere. But this year the Eagle Cafe will also feature new items, like fusion cuisine (think Korean tacos) and iced coffees from the new Java Nest. There are multiple ways to pay (declining balance cards and meal plans). Find out more about your dining options and view our current menu here. Please note: salads, due to the rising costs of ingredients, will now be charged by weight. Congrats to the Eagle Cafe on receiving a score of 100 from the Health Department!
