SBA Athletics Has A New Website Hey sports fans, SBA Athletics has a brand new website. Drawing from his collegiate experience, Athletic Director Nate Weyant spearheaded the effort to deliver a site that is able to keep up with the speed and amount of information that needs to be reported and communicated. You will be able to see rosters and schedules at a glance. You can livestream games, view photo galleries and even purchase pictures of your athlete. The new site will also allow you to keep up with scores and follow our social media feed. It enables us to shine more of a light on our athletic program sponsors so you can patronize these businesses that support us. The best part of the new website is that it is truly a family affair. Our kids are exceptionally talented - both our athletes and the students who cover them. That's why our future sports photographers and journalists will have the opportunity to build their portfolios by uploading photo galleries, videos and articles. We will be adding to the site in the months to come, so look for our archives to grow. In the meantime, please check out the new site (sbaathletics.org) and let us know what you think!

SBA Weekly Sports Report What a week for the Eagles! We celebrated our fall sports with a brief pep rally in the rotunda on Friday afternoon, complete with a performance by the soarin' sounds and cheers led by our cheerleaders. It was a sea of red at the football game vs. Bartlett and despite the 42-13 loss, the Eagles had an awesome third quarter. Antonio Adams got the Eagles on the board and Jonathan Johnson converted the PAT to make it 30-7. On the first play of the very next drive, Alex McAlpin hit Cayden Wills for an electric 75-yard TD, the Eagles longest play from scrimmage this season. Our cross country team had an impressive showing at the Fast & Furious on Saturday with Daniel Leoni blowing away the competition to win the first meet of the season. The top 5 male eagles were Colin Kozlowski, Josh Green, Vince Koch and Trevor Scott. For the ladies, Sommer Griffs led the way with a fourth-place finish. Sarah Wiggins took seventh, with Anna Leoni coming in eighth, Kayleigh Villem ninth, Madeline Wade 10th and Jenna Houff 11th . Eagles Volleyball continues to put on a dominant show, with Varsity posting a 4-1 record, JV at 5-0 and our freshman team at 2-0 on the season. Congrats to Kara Crunk on being a Commercial Appeal Athlete of the Week finalist! Our golf teams have had some strong showings and our girls soccer team looks forward to playing on the home pitch for the first time this week. Come out and cheer our Eagles on!

the Tennesse Department of Health for all of our COVID-19 guidelines. You can find our most current policy here. Please note that while absences due to quarantine will count as we return to preparing our students for higher learning, students will have the opportunity to remote in and keep up with classroom instruction and assignments.

From the Desk of Nurse Lynn From time to time, Nurse Lynn will share things she comes across or suggestions for better health. With so much conflicting and confusing COVID information out there, this article has some great content that is easy for us non-medical people to understand! Our total number of COVID cases (faculty, stafff and students) for the school year as of August 30 is 9.

Did You Know? SBA Business Directory We want to support you and your business by starting an SBA Business Directory! Current SBA families, Faculty/Staff families, Alumni, Alumni parents who own a business can complete the online form to be included in our newly created directory. Scan the code, or click here to be included. Once our directory is established, we will post on our website and feature members here and on social media! Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

Attendance While we certainly hope that the steps we are taking to reduce the spread of any communicable illnesses will lower overall absences this year, we know they will happen. Whenever a student must be absent from school, a parent or guardian should call the school office (901.260.2893) or email us at attendance@sbaeagles.org before 9:00am to notify us of the reason. Upon the student's return to school, he or she must bring a doctor's note, if applicable, and a written statement signed by the parent stating the reason for the absence. This must be brought to the office before the student's first period class.

SBA Has New Hospital Grade Filters As part of our plans to mitigate the transmission of all communicable illnesses this year, SBA has installed new Room Air Purifiers (RAP) in all classrooms and most common spaces. These hospital grade filters will remove more viral particles from the air than normal filters. It is our hope that this helps not only with the Covid-19 virus, but also strep, stomach bugs, flu, etc. If you are interested in learning more, please watch this short video.

The Eagle Cafe The Eagle Cafe is back and better than ever this year. Your old favorites like the legendary cookies and meatloaf with sides haven't gone anywhere. But this year the Eagle Cafe will also feature new items, like fusion cuisine (think Korean tacos) and iced coffees from the new Java Nest. There are multiple ways to pay (declining balance cards and meal plans). Find out more about your dining options and view our current menu here. Be sure to check out the Eagle Cafe's new fusion menu! In August, Korea meets Mexico with Korean beef tacos. Try them out on August 31st .
