First Week...Check! And just like that, we are in the swing of things! Our newest Eagles started the year on Wednesday, with our veterans right behind on Thursday. Our Home & School Association organized "Eagles Pray The Field," an early morning prayer service led by our Senior Retreat Leaders Friday morning before school, and we celebrated our first all-school mass together (socially distant) in the gym that same day. It was a fantastic start to our new year. We are so glad to welcome our students back to campus and excited to help them grow in knowledge, faith, and their own personal development over the course of the year. It's time to make the Nest your home!

Absences - How to Report While we certainly hope that the steps we are taking to reduce the spread of any communicable illnesses will lower overall absences this year, we know they will happen. Whenever a student must be absent from school, a parent or guardian should call the school office (901.260.2893) or email us at attendance@sbaeagles.org before 9:00am to notify us of the reason. Upon the student's return to school, he or she must bring a doctor's note, if applicable, and a

written statement signed by the parent stating the reason for the absence. This must be brought to the office before the student's first period class.

Emergency Drills Next week we are scheduled to complete two emergency drills. On Monday, August 16th , we will conduct a Fire Drill during 3rd period. On Tuesday, August 17th , we will practice our Armed Intruder Lockdown Drill during 2nd period. We understand that the lockdown drill especially may feel uncomfortable, but being prepared for any type of emergency is crucial to the safety of our student body. We will be communicating to everyone in advance that these are drills - not the real thing. Please remind your student at home, as well.

Did You Know? SBA Has New Hospital Grade Filters As part of our plans to mitigate the transmission of all communicable illnesses this year, SBA has installed new Room Air Purifiers (RAP) in all classrooms and most common spaces. These hospital grade filters will remove more viral particles from the air than normal filters. It is our hope that this helps not only with the Covid-19 virus, but also strep, stomach bugs, flu, etc. If you are interested in learning more, please watch this short video.

The Eagle Cafe The Eagle Cafe is back and better than ever this year. Your old favorites like the legendary cookies and meatloaf with sides haven't gone anywhere. But this year the Eagle Cafe will also feature new items, like fusion cuisine (think Korean tacos) and iced coffees from the new Java Nest. There are multiple ways to pay (declining balance cards and meal plans). Find out more about your dining options and view our August menu, or come see us at SOAR Day!

2021-2022 Academic Calendar

The 2021-2022 School Calendar is available on Quicklinks on the website.

Quicklinks We talk a lot about Quicklinks on the website, but we realize that they can be hard to find! Quicklinks live on the homepage. You can access them by clicking on the small gray box (pictured circled in yellow) on the scrolling banner on the homepage. We put timesensitive and current information there, as well as things like the current year's school calendar or forms you need easy access to. Of course, anytime you have questions on where to find something, feel free to call the office or contact us at communications@sbaeagles.org.

New Social Media Submission Form We want to shine a light on the great things that happen at SBA every day - as well as the amazing accomplishments of our esteemed alumni. But just like it takes a village to make our community so amazing, it takes help from all of you to tell our story. Please use this form to let us know what you want to share - for social media accounts and for our printed publications. Let's tell the world what it means to be an Eagle! You can find the social media and publications form on Quicklinks at the website.

Driver's Permit - Certificate of Attendance Needed Did you know that a certificate of attendance is required for a student to get a Driver’s Permit? You may pick up a form in the front office during our summer office hours. Please have the student's Social Security Number to complete the form.
