Hi kids! Have you ever been upset with your best friend? It can be hard to be the first to say, “I’m sorry.” But it’s worth it. After, you will be friends again. You will have peace. At Easter, we celebrate that God made peace with us first. The Apostle Paul explains how. It was through Jesus’ death on the cross and His Resurrection that we can be friends with God again (see Colossians 1:20). Read the Bible story to learn more about Jesus’ time on earth.

Jesus is Alive! Matthew 28

W

hen Jesus was here on earth, He did many wonderful things. He healed people who were sick. He gave food to people who were hungry. And He taught people to love each other, as He loved them. But not everyone loved Jesus. Some of the leaders in Israel, where Jesus lived, had Him killed. Jesus’ friends felt very sad when He died. They didn’t understand that Jesus chose to die in order to save them. After Jesus died, His body was laid in a tomb. A big stone was rolled in front of the tomb, so no one could get in. When Jesus had been there for three days, some women who were His followers came to the tomb. When they got there, the stone had been rolled away! An angel was at the tomb waiting for the women. “Don’t be afraid,” the angel said. “I know that you are looking for Jesus. He is not here! He has risen, just as He said He would! Go quickly and tell His disciples.”

Did you know that you are made up of approximately 37 trillion cells? Another fun fact is that your heart beats around 100,000 times a day. Also, on the day you were born, you had 270 bones, but as you grow up you will only have 206 as they join together. Isn’t the human body amazing? In one of the Apostle Paul’s letters, he uses an example to help us get along with other people better. “As parts of one body, you were appointed to live in peace,” he writes in Colossians 3:15. Just like the parts of our body work together, each one of us should work together to love others. But, how? Paul tells us in that same Bible verse from Colossians: “Let the peace that Christ gives rule in your hearts.” If we have Christ’s peace in us, we can also be at peace with others. Paul also reminds us to be thankful.

abal was a very wealthy man who owned a lot of land. He also had one thousand goats and three thousand sheep. He was married to a woman named Abigail. Meanwhile, David and his men had been on the run from King Saul for a long time. One day, they ended up near Nabal’s animals. David was hungry and thirsty. He sent one of his men to ask Nabal for some food. Nabal was a mean man, so he said no. David was angry and got ready to attack his home. A servant told Abigail about David’s plans. When she found out that Nabal had not given them any food, Abigail sent her servants to bring lots of food to David and his men. She even went with her servants to deliver the food. There, Abigail asked David to forgive her for what her husband had done. She took the blame, even though she had done no wrong.
