The Bilheimer Capitol Theatre has been a vital part of Downtown Clearwater since March 1921. The venue has hosted movies, symphonies, live entertainment and cultural events, for over 100 years! When the building faced foreclosure in 2009, The City of Clearwater purchased the building and entered into a partnership with Ruth Eckerd Hall to manage and operate. Four years later, in a revitalization effort, the building underwent a major renovation, restoring it to its original beauty and beyond, thanks to the generosity of so many community members, including Ray & Geri Trautlein. In 2019 the theater was renamed the Nancy & David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre after the philanthropic couple’s generosity enabled the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall to expand its arts education programs throughout the community. Thanks to the partnership with the City of Clearwater, the generosity of our donors and the community, the theater is world renowned, ranked by Pollstar* as #1 Club Venue in Florida and #3 in the World. *with 800 seats or less

Our environmental team is using the latest EPA and CDC recommended protocols to sanitize the facility before you arrive and throughout the show. In addition to high grade filtration, we’ve installed an air purification system in all of our facilities. The system releases oxidized ions into the air. These ions bind to viruses, bacteria and fungus, rendering them harmless. It works continuously and effectively treats the entire space 7-8 times per hour. Hand sanitizer stations are readily available. When you arrive, simply hold up your ticket in hand or on your mobile device for the attendant to scan. Now featuring XONAR Technology, state-of-the-art non-contact screening which uses artificial intelligence to greenlight guests through the gate, avoiding standard bag checks and metal detection. To minimize wait time and reduce crowding, please consider using our mobile app to order concessions on-site (at Ruth Eckerd Hall only). We encourage the use of face masks inside the facility though masks remain optional for those fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
