The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts returns to The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s

Oklahoma! Music by RICHARD RODGERS Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II Ages: 14 - 18, $575 June 1 - 26, 9am - 4pm Performances: Thursday & Friday, June 25 & 26, 7pm, Saturday, June 27, 2pm & 7pm at The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre Oklahoma! launched a new era in the American musical. It also began the most successful songwriting partnership in Broadway history. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land. Auditions May 13, 14 & 15. Call 727.712.2706 for more information. OKLAHOMA! is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization. www.concordtheatricals.com

ON-CAMERA ACTING Lights, Camera, Action! Ages: 11 - 14, $250 June 8 - 12, 9am - 3pm

Join us to learn the basic tools of the best professional actors: improvisation, characterization, script analysis, and on-camera technique. Explore the most important ingredients of great acting, including: character development, urgency/heightened energy, specificity,

discovery and subtext, spontaneity, vulnerability, creating relationships with other actors/characters, and more. Understand what “in the moment” means as an actor, learning to connect with other actors through improvisation and relationship building. Discover things within yourself you may not have realized were there, will be surrounded by a positive, supportive environment in which to make new friends, and may even come away with that urge to explore a more professional path.

I’m Ready For My Close Up! Ages: 8 - 10, $250 June 15 - 19, 9am - 3pm

Do you feel anxious when you know you have an audition to prepare? Do you panic when asked to cold read? Do you feel you have less control in a cold reading than a prepared piece? Do you focus on memorizing your lines, then worry about forgetting them? Have you lost your place on the page and panicked? Are you less than totally confident when you walk into an audition? If you answered YES to any of the above, then your approach to acting is actually getting in the way of improving your acting, and is keeping you from delivering the best of yourself in an audition. We’ll help you discover how to best prepare so that you won’t even think about the page or worry about forgetting anything…you will be rock-solid ready and your creative juices will flow. You’ll be YOU. You’ll also learn some simple, clear, and successful ways to cold read. Don’t just show up and hope for the best when you audition. BLOW THEM AWAY!

COME BACK AND SEE US IN THE FALL! Bring your talents back to The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts and join us for our Fall 2020 class offerings. Stay tuned for more information.
