Mars Rover Student Team

“The reason I’ve stayed at Rose-Hulman for 27 years is that creating relationships with brilliant students and influencing the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers never gets old.” Dr. Christine Buckley, Associate Professor of Biology and Biomedical Engineering Faculty Director – Noblitt Scholars Program

Rose-squared (R2)

Put your qualifying AP, IB, and other earned college credit in science, math, and humanities to work. In R,2 you take graduatelevel coursework while pursuing undergraduate education, allowing you to earn two degrees – a Bachelor’s and Master’s - in four years.

State-of-the-Art

Our classrooms and labs are designed to industry and grad school standards. Rose students might find themselves in a clean room, or using a nuclear magnetic resonance machine, testing concrete strength in a structural testing lab, exploring chemical properties in brand new food science lab space, or improving the range of human mobility in the JRSI lab.

Hands-on Learning

Capstone and senior design projects, undergraduate research, community service projects, and in-class and lab assignments all challenge you to learn by doing. It’s done in spaces equipped with 3D printers, CNC lathes, spectrometers, wind tunnels, engine testing labs, structural testing labs and more – spaces usually reserved for graduate students at other universities.

Internships and Co-ops

90% of our students complete at least one internship or co-op. More than 70% complete two or more. These are opportunities with firms like Google, Tesla, Kiewit, Collins Aerospace, Lilly, Apple, Cummins and more.

Competition Teams

Robot battles at Georgia Tech; Grand Prix car in Las Vegas; High-efficiency vehicles at the Shell Eco-Marathon; and Human-Powered vehicles at Michigan State. These are a few of the ways our teams are learning teamwork, honing real skills and putting them into practice each year. Other teams include: Chem-E-Car, Concrete Canoe, Design-Build-Fly, Make it Happen, Model Rocketry and NXP Cup. “As a part of RoseGPE, one of the project teams located in the BIC, I’ve been able to pursue my passion for cars by designing, manufacturing, and testing the suspension system for our Formula Style race car. The entire team is student run, meaning you can walk on and make an immediate impact.“ Rishav Khosla, ‘23

“Rose-Hulman is one of the few schools that I saw put an emphasis on internships, co-ops, and other opportunities in industry. Having gained experience at Rolls-Royce, then moving on to several roles at Tesla and SpaceX, I feel grounded in the nature of work and lifestyle I’m currently pursuing!” Addison White, ‘22
