Dawn-gazer
I want to hold this moment. Norma West Linder At the center of night. James Deahl … lean on the heart of night. Bliss Carman
5 a.m. face of night profiled humid, cold cricket-pierced
echoes of gypsy cars in the Avenue silhouettes of early risers on the street
tall buildings crack the sky’s virginity still in the stillness of the hour
street lamps and arms of antennas lift the weight of shadows rotate towards dawn s-l-o-w-l-y
a breech in the heart of night slit bottomless darkness to bring forth daybreak
I smile witness to the cycle, hold the moment, breathe it in
step from my window
back to reality.
