2016 PARADE OF HOMES LEADERSHIP Long hours of hard work and dedication go into the planning of a successful Parade of Homes. One of the reasons the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association, Inc. Annual Parade of Homes has been very successful is due to the hard work of those behind the scenes. Due to their long-term involvement with the Association and the Parade of Homes committee, Mike Duffey (Zarsky Lumber Company) and Jose Vielma (RGV New Homes Guide), were asked to head the committee. The Rio Grande Valley Builders Association, Inc. (RGVBA, Inc.) is a non-profit 501 (c) (6) corporation formed exclusively as a trade for charitable and educational purposes. The RGVBA, Inc. operates for the benefit of home builders and those engaged in allied industries in the Rio Grande Valley area and is an affiliated member of the National Association of Home Builders, Washington, D.C., and the Texas Association of Builders, Austin, Texas. RGVBA membership is open to any person, firm, or corporation related to the building industry; is in good character and business reputation; agrees to abide by the provisions of the By-Laws of the Association; subscribes to the purposes of the Association; and meets with the approval of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is elected annually and governs the local Association. Board members hold quarterly meetings to set guidelines, plan group activities, and appoint committees to carry out the goals and objectives of the organization. A monthly general membership luncheon meeting is held to allow members the opportunity to increase business contacts in a relaxed social atmosphere. One of the top concerns of the RGVBA, Inc. is its image in the community because it knows that it is the community that turns to the home-building industry for shelter and lifestyle and enables the builders to have businesses. As the only Builders Association in the Rio Grande Valley, the RGVBA, Inc. services Hidalgo, Starr, Cameron and Willacy counties. RGVBA, Inc. members are concerned, caring professionals who believe their involvement makes their community a better place.
