How your donations are equipping the whole people of God

February 2011 Your donations are integral to Regent College’s ability to work out its mission to cultivate intelligent, vigorous, and joyful commitment to Jesus Christ, His church, and His world. Therefore, we want to thank you for your steadfast support and share with you how your donations have been stewarded in the current fiscal year.

MARKETPLACE INSTITUTE

It proves to be a successful community model that enables future leaders the opportunity to dialogue, worship, and enjoy meals with one another. % Courses, conferences and public lectures offered at Regent and across North America have been well attended and received stellar reviews. (The four courses shown here will be offered in Summer 2011.)

& THE ARTS

The Arts are celebrated at Regent, with gallery openings and Integrative Projects in Arts & Theology (IPIATs) being well attended and enjoyed. Our artists intimately weave together theology and art, using a variety of creative mediums, engaging us to reflect on truth, beauty, and the depth of our own humanity.

CHRISTIANITY AND THE POLITICAL TAKING YOUR SOUL ECONOMY OF CAPITALISM TO WORK

Thanks to the many donors who responded to the Regent College Board of Governors matching gift challenge, the goal of $52,000 was far exceeded as close to $100,000 was received for new and existing student aid! The student body erupted into thunderous applause upon hearing the news at a Tuesday chapel service.

CHINESE STUDIES PROGRAM

The Chinese Studies Program is active in four spheres: hosting doctoral students for six months from leading universities in China; publishing Chinese journals and monographs; co-sponsoring an annual Chinese symposium in Christian Studies; and the participation of the Regent faculty in teaching summer school courses at leading universities in China. % Hosted ten doctoral students—from July to December—each of whom took two Regent courses and was exposed to Christianity through participation in the Regent community. % The journal Regent Review of Christian Thought was circulated to 3,000 subscribers in China. % Four faculty members taught in China for two weeks, offering courses to over one hundred students at two leading universities. One Chinese student reported that listening to Dr. Rikk Watts was like “enjoying a passionate song.”
