conflicted copy {2013} for amplified clavichord + pedals

performance notes: . accidentals apply throughout the duration of the measure—only within the given register (grace notes always have accidentals placed before notes). . dynamic implications are sparse. subtle deviations (in relation to dynamics) are left to the performer to interpret. the performer should consider the text within the score very closely when making such decisions. . vibrato durations should last as long as the given note they are assigned to. . the entire work should be interpreted with intense rhythmic precision and inertia. there are no accent or staccato markings, because (in general) the entire work should be accented and austerely read. the {sffz} marking is instituted where certain notes/figures are to be brought out of the existing sonic fabric. . the pedal markings in the score correspond to the only essential pedal used in the work. ideally, this would be a simple unison pedal, but this could be replaced by a chorus pedal if need be (the unison is preferable). the essential goal of the pedal marking throughout the score is primarily to detune the output of the amplified clavichord (roughly 1/6 of a half step). secondarily, a digital, washed out incarnation of the clavichord should be perceivable. the color change should be subtle, and the most pronounced effect should unquestionably be the variation in tuning. the attack of the clavichord should not become distanced or flabby, and there should not be any notable audio latency. . if possible, a distortion pedal should be applied for the duration of the work. the effects of this pedal should be slight, providing a slight warm fuzz over the tone of the clavichord. the pitch content should not be obfuscated by the distortion. again, audio latency should be avoided entirely.
