HOMENAJE AL DIOS SOL / ENG A TRIBUTE TO THE SUN

Cada 24 de junio, con motivo de la celebración del solsticio de invierno en el hemisferio sur, en todo Perú se celebra el Inti Raymi, la gran Fiesta del Sol en quechua. Una ceremonia en honor de Inti, el dios Sol, que conserva el rito de agradecimiento a la madre tierra de las comunidades indígenas en los territorios incas. Durante una semana, además, en Lima, se realizan una serie de actividades en los numerosos sitios arqueológicos de la ciudad, también llamados huacas, como la Fortaleza de Campoy, la Huaca Pucllana o El Paraíso de Chuquitanta, dos de los lugares con cerca de 4.000 años de antigüedad. En Cuzco, por su parte, se celebra de manera multitudinaria en el templo del Coricancha, la Plaza de Armas y la fortaleza de Sacsayhuaman. Esta fiesta es considerada Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación, y opta a ser Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la Unesco.

ENG Every June 24th, when celebrating the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere, Inti Raymi, the great Festival of the Sun in Quechua, is held throughout Peru. A ceremony in honour of Inti, the Sun God, which preserves the rite of offerings and gratitude to Mother Earth by the indigenous communities in the Inca territories. For a week in Lima, a series of activities are also held at the city’s numerous archaeological sites, also known as huacas, such as the Fortaleza de Campoy, Huaca Pucllana and El Paraíso de Chuquitanta, two of which are nearly 4,000 years old. In Cuzco, meanwhile, it is widely celebrated in the temple of Coricancha, the Plaza de Armas and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman. This festival is considered Cultural Heritage of the Nation and is also eligible for Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

En 1969, el fotógrafo Richard Avedon estaba en un limbo profesional. Llevaba cinco años sin disparar, sin inspiración, hasta que cambió su Rolleiflex de mano por un dispositivo más grande con trípode. La nueva cámara le abrió a un mundo nuevo en lo técnico y en lo creativo, pues en lugar de bailar alrededor de los personajes, ahora era él quien se quedaba inmóvil frente a las poses. De esta nueva dinámica surgió uno de sus proyectos más importantes y conocidos, Murals, que reuniría en un mismo plató a artistas, activistas y políticos de la época para enormes retratos grupales, desde Andy Warhol a Paul Morrissey o Joe Dallesandro. Ahora, el MET de Nueva York expone tres de estas obras de casi 11 m2 por el centenario de su nacimiento. metmuseum.org

Poco tiene que ver la localidad medieval de Hasselt en Bélgica con Palma de Mallorca en España. Pero Stijn Oyen (1977) ve algunas similitudes: "Ambas tienen puerto que se han convertido en una especie de centro para la ciudad, además de su variedad gastronómica". Actual director de hoteles míticos, como St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection Hotel y Sheraton Mallorca Arabella, Oyen llegó en 2021 a la isla y pronto descubrió el tipo de paraíso en el que viviría: "Me impresionó mucho la Sierra de la Tramuntana y los pueblos de la costa".

En poco tiempo ha echado raíces en la isla, y se ve capaz de recomendar hacer una ruta por "bodegas locales o productores de aceite de oliva; y como me gusta mucho salir en bicicleta, suelo subir al monasterio de Randa". También tiene un secreto a compartir: "Un lugar que no conocen muchos turistas es Raixa, una bella finca en Bunyola en torno a un patio de estilo italiano y rodeada de unos impresionantes jardines". Sus vistas sirven para entender la orografía de la isla, lógico que Stijn se enamorara de este entorno.

ENG The medieval town of Hasselt in Belgium does not have much in common with Palma de Mallorca in Spain. But Stijn Oyen (1977) sees some similarities: "Both have harbours that have become a kind of centre for the city, along with their culinary diversity". The current director of legendary hotels such as St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection Hotel and Sheraton Mallorca Arabella, Oyen arrived on the island in 2021 and soon discovered what kind of paradise he would be living in: "I was extremely impressed by the Tramuntana mountain range and the villages along the coast".

Having quickly put down roots on the island, he’s happy to recommend a tour of "local wineries or olive oil producers; and as I love cycling, I often go up to the monastery at Randa". He also has a secret to share: "A place that not many tourists know about is Raixa, a beautiful finca in Bunyola set around an Italian-style courtyard and surrounded by stunning gardens.” Its views provide an insight into the island's terrain, which is why Stijn fell in love with the surrounding area.

Hace 66 millones de años, un gran meteorito cayó en la península de Yucatán, en México. Los expertos atribuyen a esta catástrofe la extinción de los dinosaurios, pero también el desarrollo de los mamíferos y la aparición de miles de cenotes. Hoy, hay un lugar para conocer toda esta parte de la historia del planeta Tierra: el Museo de Geología o Museo del Meteorito. Son 4.200 m2 diseñados por el arquitecto Diego Ricalde de Estudio MMX donde se cuenta el periodo cretácico, el que se cursaba cuando cayó el meteorito en la actual zona de Chicxulub. Expone, además, originales de las rocas más antiguas de las que se tienen registro, fósiles de las cuatro primeras extinciones del planeta y especies de dinosaurios robotizadas. El edificio, con un gran jardín al aire libre y un mirador, está inspirado en los cenotes de este estado.

Puerto Progreso, Yucatán

El Museo del Meteorito frente al mar de Progreso abrió hace unos meses y es, en sí mismo, un recinto cultural y expositivo para pasar el día en familia. // Progreso’s waterfront Meteorite Museum opened a few months ago and is, in itself, a cultural and exhibition venue for a family day out.

ENG 66 million years ago, a huge meteorite fell on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Experts have attributed the extinction of the dinosaurs to this catastrophe, but also the development of mammals and the appearance of thousands of cenotes (sinkholes). Today, there is a place where you can learn all about this era of the history of planet Earth: The Geology Museum or Meteorite Museum. This 4,200 m2 space, designed by the architect Diego Ricalde of Estudio MMX, tells the story of the Cretaceous period, when the meteorite fell in the current Chicxulub area. It also exhibits originals of the oldest rocks on record, fossils from the planet’s first four extinctions and robotised dinosaur species. The building, with a large open-air garden and a viewpoint, is inspired by the state’s cenotes.

Desde que era un niño, Antonio José (Palma del Río, Córdoba, 1995) tuvo muy clara su vocación musical, siendo la suya una carrera que se ha ido forjando sin prisa, pero sin pausa. Con 10 años debutó en televisión, en el programa de Canal Sur Veo, veo, y fue el representante de España en el Festival Eurovisión Junior, donde quedó en segundo lugar con la canción Te traigo flores. Con 20 años volvió a ponerse ante las cámaras ganando la tercera edición del programa La voz (Antena 3) y el año pasado cantó junto a Miguel Poveda en Dúos increíbles (TVE). Ahora está inmerso en su gira, El pacto, con la que, durante dos años, recorrerá España y Latinoamérica.

¿Qué espera de este gran viaje musical?

Tengo muchas expectativas. Para mí, esta gira es un motivo de felicidad porque es un sueño cumplido y, sobre todo, porque voy a volver a encontrarme con mi público, que ya ansiaba muchísimo el volver a estar con ellos.

¿Hay algún sitio de los que va a visitar que le haga especial ilusión?

Todos los sitios donde voy a tocar me hacen especial ilusión, porque en todos y cada uno de ellos me siento acogido, tanto por mi equipo como por el cariño que me brindan mis fans. Esa energía que se respira sobre el escenario es única.

Inevitable que, con ese título, no se pregunte con quién firmaría un pacto Antonio José…

El pacto lo tengo firmado con lo que soy, con mi raíz, mi familia, con mi manera de entender la vida y la música. Y obviamente, con mis fans. Por ellos estoy donde estoy, y gracias a ellos puedo seguir soñando.

En los últimos meses hemos podido escucharle en el programa de RTVE Dúos increíbles. ¿Qué se lleva de su participación, además de ganar este peculiar concurso? Más que un concurso ha sido una gratificante experiencia compartida con compañeros de ensueño, que representan la música en español en el mundo. Cantar con mi queridísimo amigo y hermano Miguel Poveda ha sido ha jugar a pasárnoslo bien y hacérselo pasar bien al público.

También ha debutado en la serie Amaresparasiempre. ¿Es el inicio de una prometedora carrera como actor?

No diría que prometedora, porque yo estoy enfocado en la música, pero sí que estoy abierto a todo. Estaba muy nervioso, porque era la primera vez que iba a actuar en una serie y quería estar a la altura de esos increíbles actores que me arroparon y me dieron las herramientas para tranquilizarme. Me lo pasé muy bien y ojalá que pueda repetir muy pronto.

El cantante y compositor español inicia un viaje de dos años para dar a conocer las melodías de ‘El pacto’, su último trabajo discográfico.

El cielo, en principio, es un lugar inspirador… ¿Ha compuesto alguna canción en un avión?

No he compuesto una canción entera, pero sí que surgen ideas allá arriba. Algunas ideas de canciones han surgido en viajes y muchas de ellas hoy son una realidad.

¿En que invierte su tiempo a bordo?

Me pongo alguna película, o duermo, porque el descanso es fundamental para la voz. Cuando no tengo sueño, intento reflexionar y anotar mis pensamientos.

Every place I go to play makes me really excited, because in each and every one of them I feel so at home, both because of my crew and also because of the warmth of my fans. The energy on stage is unique.

Inevitably, with that title, one wonders who Antonio José would sign a pact with?

I’ve signed a pact with what I am, with my roots, my family, with my way of understanding life and music. And obviously, with my fans. It’s because of them that I am where I am, and it’s thanks to them that I can keep dreaming.

In the last few months, we’ve had the chance to listen to you on the RTVE programme Dúos increíbles. What are you taking away from the experience, apart from winning this unique contest?

More than a contest, it’s been a rewarding experience shared with dream fellow musicians, who represent Spanish music all over the world. Singing with my dear friend and brother Miguel Poveda has been like a game of having fun and showing the audience a good time.

You’ve also made your debut in the series Amarespara siempre. Is this the start of a promising career as an actor?

I wouldn’t say promising, because I’m focused on music, but I’m open to everything. I was really nervous, because it was the first time I was going to act in a series, and I wanted to live up to those amazing actors who supported me and helped to reassure me. I had a great time and I hope I can do it again.

The sky, generally speaking, is an inspiring place... Have you ever written a song in an aeroplane?

I haven’t written a whole song, but I do come up with ideas up there. Some song ideas have started on trips and many of them are now a reality.

How do you spend your time on board?

I put on a film, or I sleep, because rest is essential for the voice. When I’m not sleepy, I try to reflect and write down my thoughts.

El trazado del antiguo tren que enlazaba Manacor y Artà (en la foto), atravesando el agreste interior oriental de la isla, es hoy una bonita vía verde para todos los públicos. 29 sencillos kilómetros de ruta en los que también hay para todos los gustos: pueblos de interior, vistas al mar, campos de labranza, bosques, desvíos a playas de aguas transparentes y lugares tan curiosos como el poblado talayótico de Ses Païses. Fechado en torno al año 1000 antes de nuestra era, se trata de uno de los yacimientos más extensos y mejor conservados de Mallorca.

The route of the old train linking Manacor and Artà, crossing the wild eastern interior of the island, is now a beautiful greenway for everyone. The trail consists of 29 easy kilometres with something for everyone: inland villages, views of the sea, farmland, forests, detours to beaches with crystal-clear waters and intriguing places to visit, such as the Talayotic settlement of Ses Païses. Dating from around 1000 BC, this is one of the most extensive and best-preserved sites in Mallorca.

Hace miles de años, el agua de los torrentes trazó en los acantilados del norte de la Tramontana un cañón de tres kilómetros de longitud que desemboca en la bellísima playa de esta imagen: Sa Calobra. Este sobrecogedor paisaje cárstico, con desfiladeros de hasta 200 metros de altura, es rico en especies endémicas –como el ferreret, un minúsculo anfibio– y en alternativas de ocio y aventura: trekking, barranquismo… y, cada primer domingo de julio, conciertos al aire libre en el monumental acantilado.

Apenas una veintena de casitas de piedra que cuelgan en racimo sobre una roca que rompe en el mar transparente. Eso es S’Estaca, una diminuta y coqueta aldea de pescadores a la que se accede por un camino de tierra. Las vistas son de escándalo: al bosque, al mar y a casas que generan mucha envidia, como la del actor Michael Douglas, construida por el archiduque Luis Salvador en 1867. S’Estaca es el enclave ideal para ver el atardecer, aunque tendrás que traer tú la merienda, pues aquí sólo hay lo que ves.

This is S’Estaca, a tiny yet charming fishing village that can be reached along a dirt track. The views are breathtaking: of the forest, the sea, and also of houses to make you green with envy, such as that belonging to actor Michael Douglas, which was built by Archduke Ludwig Salvator in 1867. S’Estaca is the ideal spot to watch the sunset.

El antiguo camino real que unía Esporles y Banyalbufar, en la Sierra de Tramontana, hasta bien entrado el siglo XIX, es hoy una preciosa ruta de senderismo. Comienza (o acaba) en Banyalbufar, un pueblo famoso por los bancales de cultivo sobre los acantilados, y a lo largo de ocho kilómetros avanza por bosques de pinos, sabinas, encinas y acebuches.

// ENG The old royal road linking Esporles with Banyalbufar, in the Tramontana Mountain range, until well into the 19th century, is now a beautiful hiking route. It begins (or ends) in Banyalbufar, a village famous for the terraced fields of crops that hang over the cliffs towards the sea, and for eight kilometres it winds through forests of pine, juniper, holm oak and wild olive trees.

Pues sí. En medio de un frondoso bosque de encinas de la sierra de Alfabia, el torrente de Coanegra salta de roca en poza formando unas sorprendentes cataratas, bastante caudalosas en época de lluvias. El camino hasta el Salt des Freu, de apenas media hora, es sencillo y conserva elementos típicos de la arquitectura rural, de cuando era utilizado por los carboneros.

Well, yes actually. In the middle of a leafy holm oak forest in the Alfabia mountain range, the Coanegra torrent jumps from rock to pool forming some stunning waterfalls, which are fairly abundant in rainy season. The path to the Salt des Freu, which takes barely half an hour, is easy to do, and has conserved traditional elements of its rural architecture, from when it was used by the charcoal burners.

Separado del mar por un cordón de dunas, este extenso humedal, el más grande de la isla, es el mejor lugar para la observación de aves. Aves migratorias que vienen desde África y colonias residentes. Con 1.445 metros de altitud, el Puig Major es el punto más elevado de la Sierra de la Tramontana, de Mallorca y de todas las Baleares. En el ascenso y descenso se tardan unas seis horas y media, pero requiere forma física y conocimientos de escalada. Dichosos los que contemplen la panorámica desde ahí arriba.

The sea is crystal clear, with incredible shades of blue. The sand is fine and extremely white. Protected from the wind and not too deep, it is ideal for children and for snorkelling. There are sun loungers for hire, and free shade within the pine forest. Integrated in the Mondragó National Park, there are several paths that lead from this unspoilt beach to coastal juniper forests, freshwater ponds and viewpoints along a spectacular coastline dotted with coves of turquoise waters.

El enclave más oriental de la isla, desde donde Jaime I El Conquistador esperó el regreso de sus emisarios enviados a Menorca tras imponer la rendición de los musulmanes de la isla, en 1231. Este faro, activo desde 1861 ofrece vistas de pájaro, casi infinitas, sobre el Mediterráneo, y hasta mediados de los sesenta iluminó con una lámpara de aceite de oliva. En los días claros, se puede ver Menorca desde sus acantilados.

// ENG The most easterly enclave on the island, this is where Jaime I the Conqueror awaited the return of his emissaries, sent to Menorca in 1231 after enforcing the surrender of the island’s Muslims. The lighthouse, which has been active since 1861, offers almost infinite bird’s-eye views of the Mediterranean, and until the mid-1960s was lit by an olive oil lamp. On clear days, Menorca can be seen from its cliffs.

Son solo dos kilómetros, pero su fotogenia la ha llevado a ser una de las calles más famosas del mundo. Ocean Drive, en el distrito de South Beach de Miami, lleva desde principios de los años 20 del siglo pasado siendo un museo arquitectónico al aire libre del estilo streamline moderne, una versión tardía del art déco en EE UU. Con cerca de 900 edificios históricos protegidos, desde el cruce de la calle 1 con South Pointe Drive a la calle 15 con Lincoln Road, la vida aquí es más animada, colorista y, para algunos, incluso más superficial.

“Ocean Drive es una de las de las calles más importantes del art déco, sobre todo en villas, viviendas, hoteles y restaurantes. No conozco tanta concentración de arquitectura modernista en un espacio relativamente reducido, abarcable, como este paseo”, explica Manuel Fontán del Junco, director de Museos y Exposiciones de la Fundación Juan March y comisario de art déco. Del hotel Colony de 1939, conocido por aparecer en la serie Dexter, al Carlyle Hotel de 1941, obra del arquitecto alemán Richard Kiehnel, responsable de muchos de los edificios de este estilo en Miami. También otros hoteles como Leslie, Edison, Betsy o Clevelander, con su animada piscina. “Tiene una alegría desenfadada y un color que no tienen el art déco francés de los veinte o el de Nueva York o Chicago, más elegantes, más industriales, más cromados, más mecánicos”, explica Fontán.

A Ocean Drive la ha hecho famosa su arquitectura, pero también el cine, la televisión o la moda. Aquí está Casa Casuarina, la que fuera residencia del diseñador italiano Gianni Versace y que, tras la muerte en su popular entrada, fue vendida y convertida en un hotel boutique. También fue el escenario de series como Corrupción en Miami (Miami Vice) (1984) o CSI: Miami (2002), y de películas como Ace Ventura (1994), 2 fast, 2 furious (2003), Scarface (1983)… “Miami Beach es donde muere el neón”, dijo el cómico estadounidense Lenny Bruce, pero para hablar de su ambiente nocturno hacen falta más páginas.

ENG It’s only two kilometres long, but its sheer photogenic beauty has made it one of the most famous streets in the world. Ocean Drive, in Miami’s South Beach district, has been an open-air architectural museum of the Streamline Moderne style, a late American version of Art Deco, since the early 1920s. With nearly 900 listed historic buildings, from the intersection of 1st Street and South Pointe Drive to 15th Street and Lincoln Road, life here is livelier, more colourful and, for some, even more superficial.

From the Colony Hotel of 1939, known for featuring in the series Dexter, to the Carlyle Hotel of 1941, the work of the German architect Richard Kiehnel, responsible for many of the buildings of this style in Miami. Ocean Drive has become famous thanks to its architecture, but also because of its presence in film, television and fashion. Casa Casuarina can be found here, the former residence of Italian designer Gianni Versace, which was sold and converted into a boutique hotel after his death in its famous doorway. It was also the setting for series such as Miami Vice (1984) or CSI: Miami (2002), and films like Ace Ventura (1994), 2 Fast, 2 Furious (2003), Scarface (1983)...

El reciente lanzamiento de la Alianza para la Sostenibilidad del Transporte Aéreo en España (AST) ha marcado un hito histórico. Los principales agentes del sector empresarial, académico y ONGs , capitaneados por la alianza de aerolíneas aéreas ALA, han logrado que esta alianza vea la luz con el objetivo de dar respuesta al mayor reto presente y futuro de la aviación: la sostenibilidad. Promover el desarrollo de una aviación sostenible tanto desde la perspectiva medioambiental, como económica y social es el reto marcado por su Consejo Rector al cual pertenece Air Europa.

Esta Alianza tiene el afán de impulsar la ruta para la descarbonización del sector aéreo favoreciendo la identificación y la implantación de nuevas tecnologías y procesos innovadores de forma ordenada para garantizar la sostenibilidad del sector a largo plazo.

Se trata de un mecanismo de colaboración integrado por entidades de distintas disciplinas, más allá del ámbito aéreo, como el sector empresarial, académico y el tercer sector. FlightPath3D es el mapa de vuelo que Air Europa ha incorporado en los sistemas de entretenimiento de sus B-787. Es el más avanzado y muestra representaciones realistas y detalladas del avión en el que estás volando sobre un fondo terrestre en 3D con los datos de tu ruta. Es interactivo y puedes navegar en él para investigar datos sobre tu vuelo.

FlightPath3D is the flight map Air Europa has incorporated into the entertainment systems on its B-787s. It is the most advanced map and shows realistic and detailed representations of the aircraft you are flying in on a 3D terrestrial background with the details of your route. It is interactive and you can navigate in it to investigate data on your flight.

FlightPath3D ofrece varios tipos de mapas en 3D: un mapa interactivo del globo terráqueo, otro mapa con los controles de navegación y otro que permite seleccionar la perspectiva.
