Artist in Residence

The City of Port Coquitlam Artist-in-Residence program offers opportunities for artists to work in the community, develop arts-based engagement activities, and deliver creative projects that generate meaningful connections. Artists work collaboratively with community members in initiatives where the participants take a central role as creators, producers, and performers or as active audiences for the project.Visit portcoquitlam.ca/air for more information.

January – June 2023

Meet Port Coquitlam’s new Artist in Residence, Marn Norwich.

Marn Norwich is a writing workshop facilitator, writing coach, poet and playwright. Her poetry book, Wildflowers at my doorstep (Karma Press), won an Independent Publisher Book Award.

During her residency, Marn will launch the Muse Project, a series of writing workshops on the theme of Connection. These workshops will present an opportunity for Port Coquitlam residents to engage their creativity, connect deeply to their truest stories and contact their wild and unique wisdom by participating in the writing process. The workshops will culminate in a community reading. She’ll also provide one-on-one writing mentorship for community members.

Marn will facilitate an all-ages Earth-Walk + Write event as part of the City’s Centennial May Day celebration. In our May Day Art Zone, she’ll lead a springtime–vision writing workshop for children in the Magic Tent, a world where transformation is possible! Check portcoquitlam.ca/air for workshop dates and registration.
