As Louis Hotels celebrates 70 years in the field, it is fascinating to look back and see how the hotel industry has evolved. There is no doubt that the internet today has provided us with powerful tools that have succeeded in converting even the greatest skeptics. The first major shift in our industry came with the launch of increasingly popular online bookings. Here at Louis Hotels, the number of online reservations continues to increase substantially

For us, the value of honest and open feedback is incalculable. Guest comments have given us eyes to see every corner of our hotels, and hearts and minds to note every service and

input from the trade. We have heard and responded to your needs by designing our product to appeal to the different market segments you serve – from family to couplesonly holidays, from tourist villages to boutique hotels. Along his career path he gained experience at every level from Assistant Manager to Operations Manager, then Hotel Manager and finally General Manager. How did he achieve it? There certainly were no shortcuts – career advancement goes hand in hand with professional performance that meets and exceeds business targets.

His determination to deliver results bore fruit, as he gradually advanced to Rooms Division Manager, then to Operations Manager, and eventually to the position of General Manager at Mykonos Theoxenia, before accepting the broader responsibilities associated with his current position.

It’s been a very satisfying 18-year journey with Louis Hotels, and I’m looking forward to the next challenges to come… LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

ouis Hotels is investing in the next generation and healthy succession planning through a new and rigorous 18-month Management Training Programme. Consisting of three terms in different hotels within the group, it focuses on F&B management and services, with employment in one of the group’s hotels in Cyprus or Greece guaranteed upon successful completion. The focus on F&B is based on the fact that this very

demanding department is crucial to Louis Hotels’ success in the all-inclusive sector. Strict application criteria lead to a natural selection of the most suitable and promising trainees for the demanding hotel industry. In addition to demonstrating Louis Hotels’ forwardthinking philosophy, the programme ensures that ‘new blood’ is introduced to the team, while at the same time contributing to youth employment.

M u r a by A k a k i k o, e s p e c i a l ly f o r o u r g u e s t s Akakiko, an Asian-owned franchise from Austria, is synonymous with easy Japanese dining. While the Louis Group already operates full-service Akakiko restaurants in Nicosia, Limassol and Agia Napa, Louis Hotels recently introduced a customized in-hotel sub-brand, Mura by Akakiko, which is reserved for Louis hotel guests. Defined in cooperation with the franchisers, Mura satisfies the demand for a more sophisticated dining option, while capitalizing on Louis Hotels’ expertise in Asian cuisine. Mura combines a plated menu and self-service buffet: a choice of sushi and salad starters are served at the table, followed by a buffet of Akakiko’s most popular hot dishes – all included in the guests’ terms of stay. Care was taken to include child-friendly mild dishes, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. Outlets are already operating at the Louis Imperial Beach in Pafos, the Louis Creta Princess in Chania, Louis Kerkyra Golf and Louis Corcyra Beach in Corfu. It will be launched at the Louis Zante Beach in May 2015, and is in the pipeline for the lti Louis Grand in Glyfada, Corfu.

On 6 September, the Louis Zante Beach at Laganas was the scene of a very touching scenario, as Kostas, a rescued and rehabilitated Loggerhead sea turtle, returned to his natural habitat in the Ionnian Sea. A few months earlier, volunteers from the Archelon Rescue Centre based at Louis Zante Beach had found Kostas with a head injury at Kyparissia Bay. His age was estimated at about 30 years, and his weight was 32kg. Louis Hotels supports the protection of turtles as part of its Social Corporate Responsibility . In this case, Louis Hotels was one of the sponsors that covered the cost of the turtle’s transportation and treatment.
