On October 4, 2019, he visited the famous Konark Sun Temple or Black Pagoda. It was built in the 13th Century CE to worship the Hindu Sun god ‘Surya’. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned throughout the world for its stone sculpture and architecture. Besides being a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, it also attracts a large number of tourists from all across. The temple complex has the appearance of a 30 meter high chariot with 12 pairs of immense wheels and seven horses, all carved from stone. The wheels represent the 12 months of the Hindu calendar, each month paired into two cycles (Shukla and Krishna) are iconic for their intricate artwork. Seven horses represent the seven days of a week.
