Best Time to reach Coach Landreneau: Head coach James Landreneau can generally be reached in

the morning. All interviews should be coordinated through the assistant SID at (337) 475-5926. Interview Policy: Media interviews of players and coaches are encouraged, and every effort will be made to accomodate media requests. In-person interviews are preferred, but telephone interviews can be arranged through the Sports Information Office. Under no circumstances will student-athletes’ phone numbers be supplied to the media. Request should be made 24 hrs. in advance. Practice: As a general rule, practices are usually open to the public. Practice is the best time to reach coaches and players at once. Efforts will be made to accommodate interview needs before or after practice as long as it is prearranged through the Sports Information Office. Contact Pam LaFosse for pratice times. Post-Game Interviews: Players and coaches will usually be available for post-game interviews following a team meeting. Interviews will be held in the conference room in the Hodges Field House, following a 10 minute cool down period. 5th Year at McNeese 2nd As Head Coach 2017 SLC Coach of the Year

James Landreneau guided McNeese to LANDRENEAUX’S FILE a school record 24 conference wins, tied the school record with 43 (43-18) wins, the 2017 Southland Conference regular season Overall Record: 43-18 (.705) title, SLC Tournament title and an NCAA 5th season at McNeese (2nd as head coach) Regional appearance as well as being named the league’s Coach of the Year in his first season as head coach. COACHING CAREER Landreneau, a key component on the McNeese Cowgirls’ softball coaching Head Coach, McNeese, 2017-present staff the previous four years, continued the Assistant Coach, McNeese, 2014-16 Cowgirl success in 2017. In 2017, the Cowgirls broke a COACHING HIGHLIGHTS combined nine records (8 McNeese, 1 SLC) and tied six school records and led the SLC TEAM in 15 statistical categories including 11 offensive categories. The Cowgirls broke the One SLC regular season title (2017) McNeese single season RBI (320), runs scored (361) and walks (216) records while One SLC Tournament title (2017) leading the SLC with a .296 batting average, .460 slugging percent, .399 on base One NCAA Regional appearance (2017) percent, 368 runs scored, 471 hits, 325 RBI, 85 doubles, 52 homeruns and 229 walks. One SLC Coach of the Year (2017) His pitching staff ranked third in the league with a 2.58 ERA and fourth in strikeouts with 229. Under Landreneau’s leadership, he coached the 2017 SLC Player and Hitter INDIVIDUALS of the Year (Erika Piancastelli) for the third consecutive year and Pitcher of the One SLC Player of the Year Year (Rachel Smith) along with five other All-SLC picks, three All-Region and five Erika Piancastelli (2017) All-Louisiana selections. Piancastelli also earned the SLC softball Student-Athlete - One SLC Hitter of the Year of the Year for the second straight year and was named to the CoSIDA District 6 AllErika Piancastelli (2017) Academic Team. After starting the 2017 season with a 5-9 record, Landreneau guided the -One SLC Pitcher of the Year Cowgirls to a 38-9 record the rest of the way including a 12-game winning streak and Rachel Smith (2017) won 13 of their last 15 games. - One SLC Student Athlete of the Year In his previous four years at McNeese, the Cowgirls compiled a 157-66 Erika Piancastelli (2017) overall record and an 83-20 mark in Southland Conference play and has been a part - Seven All-SLC selections of three conference championships (2013, 2014, 2016) while coaching three league -Five All-Louisiana Selections player of the year recipients. - Three All-Region Selections In 2016, Landreneau coached an offense that was led by two-time NFCA Four SLC All-Academic honorees All-America catcher and Southland Conference Player and Hitter of the Year - Two Academic All-District honors Erika Piancastelli as the Cowgirls won the league regular season and tournament championships while playing in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regionals where they beat former national champion Arizona State in the opening round. The Cowgirls, who won a school record 43 games, led the league in hitting (.305), slugging (.460), on-base percentage (.409), runs scored (350), hits (466), runs batted in (292), doubles (88), total bases (702) and hit by pitches (81). In addition to the record number of victories, the Cowgirls also set school records in runs scored, RBI, batters hit, walks (201) and on-base percentage. In 2015, Landreneau’s offense broke or tied four single season records while Piancastelli became the first player in Southland Conference history to be voted as the league’s Player, Hitter and Freshman of the Year in the same season. McNeese posted a .968 fielding percentage that season to rank 36th in the nation. The Cowgirls finished the season ranked fourth in the league with 61 doubles that year as they finished with a 38-15 overall record and a conference championship mark of 19-5. In 2014, the Cowgirls repeated as conference champions with a 20-6 league record and 40-17 mark overall. McNeese has led the league in stolen bases the last three years and has ranked in the top 10 in the nation the last two seasons. In 2014, the Cowgirls topped the conference and rankeds 19th in the nation with 86 doubles and led the league with a .435 slugging percentage while setting single-season school records in runs scored and on-base percentage while tying records in triples and hit-bypitches. Landreneau coached and developed Alanna DiVittorio who broke a combined nine McNeese and Southland Conference records her senior season and was named the league’s player and hitter of the year for 2014. DiVittorio also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors that season to become just the second softball player in school history to earn the prestigious award. The native of Mamou, La. resides in Lake Charles with his two children, Aubrey and Jackson.

COACHING CAREER

Assistant Coach (Second Season)

Katie Roux is in her second season as assistant coach after helping the Cowgirls to the regular season title, SLC Tournament title and an NCAA Regional appearance in 2017. The Cowgirls’ starting shortstop from 201114, was named assistant coach in 2017. Roux helped McNeese to back-to-back regular season Southland Conference titles in 2013 and 2014 and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament all four years. Roux was recruited and played one season for Natalie Poole who is the head coach at Memphis and completed her playing career at McNeese under Mike Smith, now the head coach at Ole Miss. While at McNeese, Roux was the Cowgirls’ second baseman as a freshman where she was named to the Southland Conference and All-Louisiana honorable mention teams in 2011 and the SLC all-tournament team in 2012. She then moved to shortstop where she held down the starting position for the next three years. The native of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was a member of the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career and was named an NFCA AllAmerica Scholar-Athlete and the SASOL Student Athlete of the season in 2013. Roux was also a three time Southland Conference All-Academic selection and a member of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District team. After playing for McNeese, Roux remained at McNeese as a student assistant in 2015 before serving as a softball and volleyball coach at Live Oak High School for the 2015-16 season.

PRICE’S FILE

Assistant Coach (First Season)

Former Cowgirl Dani Price is in her first year as assistant coach after spending the last four years on the Baylor staff. During her time in Waco, the Bears appeared in four NCAA Regional Tournaments, and the 2014 and 2017 College World Series. Price spent the 2014 season as a student manager before being promoted to volunteer assistant, where she spent the last three years working primarily with outfielders in addition to other coaching duties. Price was instrumental in coaching outfielder Jessie Scroggins to the All-Big 12 Defensive team as a freshman in 2015, and returns a trio of all-region outfielders, Scroggins, Lindsey Cargill, and Kyla Walker, for the 2017 season. A 2013 graduate of McNeese State, Price collected eight home runs and 89 RBI over four seasons as a player. She earned a spot on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll four times, was a 2010 All-Southland Conference honorable mention selection and was named to the 2010 Southland Conference All-Academic Team. Price continues to be ranked in several career categories at McNeese including games played and started, ranking third in both categories. She also ranks fifth in at bats, sixth in walks and 10th in RBI. She earned her Masters of Divinity degree with a concentration in Sports Ministry last August.

VINCENT

Volunteer Coach First Year

Emily Vincent returns to the Cowgirl program as a volunteer assistant after spending 2017 as a member of the Texas Charge professional team. Vincent is the second Cowgirl to play professionally. The former Cowgirl standout played for McNeese from 2013-16 and helped the program to three Southland Conference regular season titles, one SLC Tournament title and one NCAA Tournament appearance. Vincent was named to the All-Southland and All-Louisiana teams all four years, SLC all-tournament (2016) and was named team MVP in 2016. While with the Cowgirls, Vincent posted a 36-13 record with a 2.07 ERA. She also produced a .320 career batting average with 201 hits, 43 doubles, 12 triples, 21 home runs, 14 RBI and 78 walks. Vincent led the team in victories, innings pitched, ERA, Strikeouts and shutouts during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In 2016, Vincent led the conference with a 1.51 ERA and ranked third in strikeouts and third in wins.

Student Assistant

Former Cowgirl outfielder Tori Yanitor is in her first season as a student assistant after a four year career at McNeese (2014-17). Yanitor was part of three Southland Conference regular season titles, two conference tournament titles and two NCAA Regional Tournaments while at McNeese. She was named to the 2016 and 2017 SLC alltournament teams and is a four-time member of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Yanitor ended her career with a .261 batting average, 129 hits, 32 doubles, 13 home runs, 103 RBI and a .971 fielding percent.

Erika Piancastelli became McNeese State’s first All-American in 2015 as well as being named the Southland’s Player, Hitter, and Freshman of the Year. She is the first player in SLC history to earn all three honors in the same year. She was also a NFCA Top 10 Freshman of the Year Finalist ad well as being named Louisiana Freshman of the Year. In 2015, Piancastelli led McNeese in nine offensive categories: batting average (.430), slugging percent (.905), on base percent (.541), runs scored (49), hits (68), RBI (54), doubles (19), home runs (18), and total bases (143).

ERIKA PIANCASTELLI Two Time All-American

In 2015, as a freshman Erika Piancastelli became McNeese State’s first softball All-American and the Southland’s first since 2003 after being named to the NFCA All-American third team. Also in 2015, Piancastelli was the first player to be named the Southland Conference Player, Hitter and Freshman of the Year in the same season. Piancastelli was also an NFCA Top 10 Finalist for Division I Freshman of the Year. In 2016, as a sophomore, Piancastelli borth the McNeese single season home run record (22) and career home run record (40). She was one home run away from tying the conference single season record. For the second straight year in 2016 , she was named the Southland’s player and hitter of the year and earned her second All-American honor being named to teh NFCA second team.

For the third straight year in 2017, Piancastelli was named the league’s player and hitter of the year. She also became McNeese’s career RBI and walks leader and the Southland’s career walk leader during the season.

Ann Roubique 1979-82

Former softball and basketball standout Ann Roubique was inducted into McNeese State’s Hall of Fame in 2001. Roubique is the first softball player and the third women’s basketball player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The four year letterwinner in softball and basketball, Roubique spent most of her adult lifte at McNeese. Roubique also spent six years as assistant women’s basketball coach (1985-90) and three as head women’s tennis coach (1985-87). As an athlete, Roubique was the 1979 MVP after batting .439 with seven home runs and helped her team’s capture the Louisiana Championships in 1979 and 1981. She was also a three time All-Louisiana selection.

Cherilyn Lantrip 1979-82

Former softball player and softball coach Cherilyn Lantrip is the most recent female athlete inducted into the McNeese Hall of Fame. Lantrip was inducted in 2004. At one time, she held the career records for runs scored and home runs as well as most doubles in a game with three. She was a three-time All-Louisiana selection and team MVP. The four year letterwinner was also a member of two Louisiana Championship teams (1979 & 1981). As a coach, Lantrip coached the Cowgirls for two seasons (1986 & ‘87), compiling a 42-38 won-loss record and led McNeese to a third place finish in the SLC both seasons.
