Issue 2
MEET
MISRED
Compliments of the new season and welcome to another issue of the Picturehub Magazine. In this issue we got to work with the mogul in the making MisRed, a rising star in the Zimbabwean media landscape. I would like to thank the team that helped put the issue together; Rumbie Dakwa our writer, Audrey the makeup artist, Hair by Julie, Pam from Lafemme all things, Rumbie from Africa Connect and Liqwa my assistant. I would also like to thank all the readers who logged on to view the magazine. The first issue exceeded our expectations and we look forward to growing our readership with content that is both intersting and engaging. As the magazine grows we will be expanding our content to include travel and food canvasing the African continent as we explore our african diversity and curiosity. We also started a show “The Pictuehub Show” on our YouTube channel @costa_thecreator to create more indepth content. Our vision for the future is to create a platform for engagement with Picturehub. We will continue to give back to our community and clients who play a major role in our journey. We would like to extend gratitude to the great team that made this first issue possible. This includes our contributors, writers, advertisers and those who did creative work. This magazine will thrive on collaborations and meaningful relationships.

Meet the dynamic MisRed MisRed became well known in the Zimbabwean media industry as radio presenter on ZiFM Stereo, where she has established a large following for the radio station’s breakfast show, The Ignition. She has since evolved to become a TV personality, Digital entrepreneur, young media personality and philanthropist. This vivacious, forthright and sassy lady is certainly making waves in the entertainment industry and will undoubtedly be recognised as a media mogul of this era.
Born Samantha Musa She was born Samantha Musa, on 8 May 1989 and has two daughters named Hannah and Peter-Renee. 2019 saw a big shift after appearing in the Jah Prayzah video for Kunerima which catapulted her into the eyes of most Zimbabweans. After a picture from the set of the filming of that video went viral crossing over across the Border, there was no turning back on the Brand Misred. Throughout 2019 she didn’t shy away from the newspapers but mostly we saw her taking on a route not commonly taken by women in her field. Boldly becoming an opinion leader without fear of taking on even the most difficult subjects.
Shifting social-cultural conversations Her outspoken character has led her to become a respected opinion leader, a critique of popular culture. She has been instrumental in shifting social-cultural conversations. Through her social media she has raised awareness on various topical issues. One such issue is that of body shaming where she has stood against those, who mock plus size women and has encouraged the self-love narrative for women of all shapes and sizes. Her confidence in her image has inspired many women in Zimbabwe and abroad.

Her role in building entrepreneurs Recently she commenced an online business promotion initiative for young entrepreneurs which is called Red Market Sunday, with the aim of assisting young people to connect and reach more clients through marketing their business ventures on her Twitter platform which boasts a followership of over 100k. This online market allows businesses and customers to interact through the Misred twitter account. “When I started Red Market Sunday I wanted to show that social media can go beyond generalised social conversations but can be a strong networking and commerce space when its done in a way that is easily palatable. I have had so many interesting stories of businesses being boosted as well as collaborations forged from Red Market Sunday. The most touching was a young man who managed to put together money for fees off Red Market sales.

I got to know the Moyana family when I did photography for Vongai & Kombo’s wedding, a few years ago. Their family has grown and they now they have a handsome and energetic little boy. As a photographer sometimes you become part of the families you take pictures for, because we get to share precious moments together, such as the joys of life’s achievements and milestones. When couples get married, we are together as the young couple prepares for their lobola to their wedding, then we celebrate the maternity period and the eventual birth of a child. I believe strong families are an important part of a strong community and provide support, as well as a springboard from which careers and strong bonds are nurtured. Having a family shoot is a very special thing especially if there are three or four generations. This is an activity that you can do as a family that brings you together and creates shared pleasant memories. It’s also a good way of passing on the family tree to the generations that come after we are gone. There are different options available for family shoots. Represented in the images is the outdoor photoshoot. This can be planned to coincide with a family gathering when all family members are available. Such moments can be captured just before or just after a wedding. The outdoor photoshoot can be done at a family location or home. Any other location can be sourced such as botanical gardens, game parks, farm or even an urban street environment. The other option is studio photography which is indoors and there can be different backgrounds used to capture the images.

We are living in an era where Africa is being celebrated worldwide. Be it the culture or the people, Africa has certainly rattled the world. Icons like Zozibini, Ethiopia’s Abiy Ahmed, Eliud Kipchoge, Siya Kolisi have got the world talking and have drawn attention to this beautiful, warm continent. If Africa is centre stage in the world, it’s about time our we made African become prominent at our weddings. In this featured styled shoot creatives converged to showcase a wedding concept that celebrates our African heritage and origin. We are used to seeing the bride dressed in white or ivory but the natural African beauty is seen in this uniquely designed dress. Grooms usually pride themselves in designer Italian suits. It’s refreshing to see this African suit. An African themed wedding doesn’t remove the glamour but actually brings a unique touch.
