Could You Blast Off With Cambridge LaunchPad? Cambridge LaunchPad is a movement led by science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) organisations, who invest their talent and resources to inspire young people into STEM careers. They provide students aged 8-18 with inspiring experiences and opportunities, designed to address the diversity issues which exist in STEM employment. Industry partners and partner schools are at the heart of the programme. By building bridges between education and employment, together they support and contribute to the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the Greater Cambridge region. Managed by Form the Future, the core of Cambridge LaunchPad is the Project Day: an all-expenses-paid visit to a workplace. The students have hands-on activities and team challenges while meeting staff and learning about career opportunities. In primary schools they take an entire year group, while in secondary and sixth forms the students are set a mini project to apply for their place. 95% of students who took part in the events would recommend them and 84% felt they learned something new. New for 2021, and in response to the restrictions that covid-19 placed on visits, Cambridge LaunchPad are developing a library of digital and virtual activities which schools will be able to access at any time. Directly linked to curriculum requirements, with additional careers contexts, these will reach every school in the Greater Cambridge area. There’ll be a revamped website coming soon. Cambridge LaunchPad is always on the lookout for new partners. Whether inspiring your potential future colleagues on a Project Day, or creating bespoke classroom resources, you’ll be guided and supported by a team of specialists in careers, STEM education, and outreach. You’ll also have the opportunity to join Form the Future’s other volunteer programmes. Contact Cambridge-LaunchPad@FormTheFuture.org.uk to find out more.

Genesis Student Bursary

Enhancing the Industry and Career Insights for Students - more information Genesis 2021 will assemble senior executives and decision-makers from across the Life Science, Healthcare and Technology field to present, discuss and demonstrate their collective insight and thought leadership for the sector. Check out the Programme. A clear theme that emerged at the Building Life Science Adventures conference in March was the value and need of enhancing the student-to-industry interface, where possible. The Genesis Student Bursary enables registered company delegates attending the conference to nominate a student to receive a free digital delegate pass to attend the event. Application Process: Applicants should email the details of the student (name/institution/course/email address) and details of the industry buddy (name/company/email address) to jasmin@onenucleus.com. If the Industry Buddy is already registered, the bursary will be approved and the student registered free of charge. Not paired yet? If the Industry Buddy is not yet registered, we will be more than happy to assist them in registering, subsequently approving the bursary. If you would like to be an Industry Buddy/Student participant in the above scheme, but do not have a connection yet, we will be happy to assist in trying to suggest suitable matches. Deadline: As with all bursaries, there is a finite capacity. We are content to maximise that capacity rather than place a timing deadline right now. Bursaries will be approved on a first come, first served basis up to that capacity.
