T h e Urban A s s e m b l y ' s N e w Y o r k Harbor S c h o o l , located o n G o v e r n o r ' s Island, is d e d i c a t e d to providing a collegepreparatory education built upon N e w York City's maritime e x perience that instills in students t h e ethics of e n v i r o n m e n t a l stewardship a n d t h e skills associated with maritime careers. Last year 10 Harbor S c h o o l g r a d u a t e s e n t e r e d S U N Y Maritime College! I a m w o r k i n g with elected officials, c o m m u n i t y residents, e d u cation a d v o c a t e a n d t h e Dept. of Education to establish a m i d dle school in R e d Hook that will act a s a "feeder s c h o o l " for this w o n d e r f u l , visionary institution. W h e n it is in place s t u d e n t s will be able to pursue t h e finest maritime training anyw h e r e , f r o m Middle S c h o o l , to Harbor S c h o o l , to State University of N e w York Maritime college.
