Internship Search: Engineering Insider Advice 

Consider what industry you would want to work in and evaluate how your skills, interests and values align with your decision.

Learn how to communicate your technical abilities and include them on your resume, and during interviews. Practice interviewing with UCS.

Utilize both UCS, the McCormick Career Development office andcourses to prepare for an internship and/or co-op.

Hiring Cycle Depending on if you are seeking a co-op or internship will dictate your time line for your employment search. It is always recommended to start in early Fall Quarter which is reinforced by the SWE Industry day occurring in midOctober. Internship recruiting will continue throughout the academic year, but the more competitive sought after internships will be filled Fall Quarter.

Market Your Skills

Attend career fairs and company information sessions including the SWE Industry Day in October and the Career Expo in January .

Professional Associations Utilize Professional Associations for industry research, identifying potential employers, and developing your network as a student member
