What is the MS Gala & Fashion Show? The National MS Society, South Florida Chapter holds one of the most prestigious luncheons in South Florida, drawing over 1,200 guests from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties every year. The MS Gala & Fashion Show has raised more than $5 million to help the National MS Society fund cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education and provide programs and services designed for the 6,000 people with MS and their families in South Florida.
About MS? Multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with the disease. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S. and over 2.1 million worldwide.
