Teachta Ward said “Based on the HSE salary scales, a trainee clinical psychologist is currently supported by the HSE to the tune of almost €150,000 over 3 years through salary and contributions towards fees. “The HSE recruit approximately 60 trainee clinical psychologists annually. “The HSE insert a payback clause in their contracts that insist that the psychologists must work for the HSE when they finish their training. “Despite this the HSE have informed me that over the last five or more years due to difficulties with the process of getting approvals, the HSE have not been in a position to offer employment to newly qualified clinical psychologists. “This situation is unacceptable. DUBLIN URBAN RIVERS LIFE PROJECT

The Mayor noted that the wetlands will ‘support the Green Infrastructure objectives of South Dublin County Council’s Development Plan and will provide access to and connectivity between areas of interest for residents, wildlife and biodiversity and linkages between the natural waters of the River Dodder and the formalised park space.’

On 23rd August 2022 Councillor Emma Murphy, Mayor of South Dublin County Council and Councillor Mary Hanafin, An Cathaoirleach of DúnLaoghaire Rathdown County Council turned the sod in Dodder Valley Park on two of the five wetlands planned as part of the Dublin Urban Rivers LIFE (DURL) Project.

The Mayor also noted the wetlands will ‘also provide a water reservoir habitat during times of prolonged dry weather, something we see more and more of these days’. An Cathaoirleach of

Dún-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Councillor Mary Hanafin commended ‘the joint workings of the two local authorities, with funding from Europe, for important environmental work such as the Dublin Urban Rivers LIFE project’ and such enterprise was to be replicated where possible.

The Director of Services for Water, Environment and Climate Change, South Dublin County Council, Teresa Walsh and the Chief Executive of Dun LaoghaireRathdown County Council joined the Mayor and An Cathaoirleach to mark this phase of the project, where the construction of these nature-based wetlands fulfils the objectives of the LIFE project and also objectives of the River Basin Management Plan 2022–2027, Water Framework Directive, Climate Change Action Plan, Floods Directive, and draft Biodiversity Plan. These wetlands will improve water quality in the Dodder River and create an ecosystem for increased wildlife and biodiversity in the park.

Councillor Hanafin also noted the positive water quality impact of project work finding domestic misconnections at houses in both counties. The construction of the wetlands will support the DURL projects ongoing doorto-door assessment work, where the project team has assessed stormwater quality at over 4,200 houses since May 2021. Washing machines, kitchen sinks and dishwashers have been identified as the most common misconnected appliances, with wastewater from these appliances being discharged to the local river. The reception at the doorstep has been overwhelmingly positive, with misconnection repairs ongoing and 80% repaired since the commencement of the door-to-door work. This demonstrates to the project team the public appetite for enhanced urban water quality and environmental improvement projects such as the LIFE project. “My Best Friend” was one of Jack’s favourite songs when he was an active member of the singing group, and he was well and truly keeping up with the singing. “Cost rental is a new kind of housing delivery where rents are set at a minimum level of 25% below the market rents in the area and rent is based on the cost of building, managing and maintaining the homes so it makes it a much more affordable rental option.

“As part of my work on the Oireachtas Housing Committee I have advocated for cost rental properties and worked with the Department of Housing to ensure we see delivery of rental properties that provide people with the security of a long-term lease and below market rent rates right here in our local community. “So I am thrilled to see 118 new cost rental homes in Kilcarbery and Parklands now being allocated to people and families in the community,” added Deputy Higgins.

118 new cost rental homes at Kilcarbery and Parklands are now being allocated to families as they prepare to move into their new long-term, secure rental homes, Dublin Mid WestTD has said. Speaking ahead of the official launch of the new cost rental homes in Kilcarbery and Parklands, Deputy Higgins welcomed this progress being made in improving rental supply in the area. “For young people and families looking for a place to rent, finding somewhere that is both affordable and has security of tenure has been a massive challenge for the last number of years and unfortunately so many people feel they are caught up in a rent trap,” said Deputy Higgins

I speak to in the area say that the uncertainty of their tenure means that they simply can’t plan for the future but with cost rental, tenants have the peace of mind of knowing that this is their long-term home.

“Cost rental also offers people long-term security, because as long as there are no issues with breach of contracts or rent arrears the tenancy is of unlimited duration,” added Deputy “ManyHiggins.renters

“Allocation is based on a lottery system which takes into account your net household income (must be below €53,000 per annum), your household size, your ability to pay the rent cost and other such factors. “As we see more cost rental properties being developed they will be advertised online so I would encourage anyone in the community who is interested to keep an eye on the South Dublin County Council website as well as the websites of Approved Housing Bodies to know when applications for new developments open,” concluded Deputy Higgins.

“It has been a long three months since children with additional needs were in the structure of a school environment, to set them up for success they will need lots of support, understanding and flexibility, not only from teachers but from staff and students as well” says Dairine Cullen, Director of Neurodiversity Ireland.

Director of Learning, Lucianne Bird said: “After more than two years of living with a pandemic we have many people living with new mental health challenges and complications of Long-Covid that could avail of these life-changing courses and get back on track. We work with people not just with a disability, but those who have had a health setback, mental health condition, autism, or people recovering from an accident or illness. We are a pathway for people to access further and third level education, apprenticeships and Ifemployment.youhavea disability, you are twice as likely to be unemployed in this country; this is unacceptable. At NLN we believe no one should be left behind and this is what our inclusive, equitable education and training model is all about.” “We work with people of all ages, from early school leavers right up to people aged 65. Our staff are skilled in working with employers to help match students with the right employer and the right role. We would advise anyone who needs extra support to get into employment or further education to drop into a centre during our National Open Day event on Wednesday, August 24th.” she said.

In conjunction with the launch of the Neurodiversity Ireland Inclusive Educator Awards, Neurodiversity Ireland is also launching its ‘LETMEBEME’ back to school campaign. The ‘LETMEBEME” campaign aims to give a platform to neurodivergent adults and kids to share what helps them feel themselves, to feel happy and support their success. Interested contributors are invited to use the #LETMEBEME hashtag to share their thoughts and feelings. As part of the ‘LETMEBEME’ campaign and to help with the transition to starting or going back to school, Neurodiversity Ireland is sharing stories from our neurodiverse community about the accommodations or small differences that can allow children to feel safe, comfortable and happy to be themselves.

Wendy said: “I was lost. I thought my life had no meaning. I didn’t have a clue what I could do next. Then someone told me about FromNLN. the minute I heard about it, I felt it was something that would suit me. If nothing else, it would get me out of bed, get me organised, encourage me to plan, and have a social life again. From the moment I walked in the door, I could see smiling faces and I knew this was right for me. My tutor knew about my fatigue and we chatted about how he could support me. He gave me a chair beside the door and said anytime you need to step out please just do that, and I have to say, that little bit of understanding made all the difference. It’s given me back my independence and I learned that I had something to offer”.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATOR AWARDS

Neurodiversity Ireland is launching the Inclusive Educator Awards to celebrate the outstanding contribution of principals, teachers, resource teachers and SNAs, as role models, in creating an inclusive school environment. Principals, teachers and SNAs who inspire and support students in these challenging, resourceconstrained environments are changing lives and they deserve to be recognised! Every child has the right to the same opportunities as their peers, regardless of their differences or the challenges they may face. Lorna Danaher, Sponsorship manager at Energia says ‘’We are delighted to be sponsoring the Neurodiversity Ireland Inclusive Educator Awards. At Energia, we want to support those who believe in inclusive education and encourage everyone to think of the possibilities. This award is for those letting children BE THEMSELVES to allow them to reach their full Educationpotential’’.tailored to children with additional needs enables every student to gain a high level of independence and reach their full potential. Neurodiversity Ireland wants to recognise the vital role that brilliant additional needs educators are playing in changing the lives of children and parents throughout Ireland. To highlight these great contributions, the organisation is launching the annual Neurodiversity Ireland Inclusive Educator Awards with the support of the Department of Education and the Department of Disability, Equality, Integration and Youth, to celebrate and recognise the importance of those individuals who are empowering, educating and supporting our amazing, neurodiverse children.

The figures were released recently as National Learning Network launched its inaugural National Open Day, which will be held on Wednesday, August 24th 2022, at 11am and will see more than 30 centres across the country open their doors to the public. People who were supported to find employment through NLN, and who may otherwise have remained reliant on social welfare payments, have contributed in the region of over €750,000 to the State as a result of securing employment. Additionally, the Exchequer has saved conservatively in the region €100,000 annually in reduced expenditure on social welfare benefits, not including savings on secondary benefits. After acquiring a brain injury in 2015 following a fall from a horse and subsequently losing her job as a Montessori teacher, Wendy Newman began studying I.T. and office skills at National Learning Network and is now back in employment.

By removing what would otherwise be a constant and overwhelming irritation, the school is helping to ensure that she has the best set up for learning and playing”.

Cullen says that a rigid approach to teaching and the class environment can be incredibly difficult and damaging for some young people with hidden or learning disabilities or additional needs, which is why Neurodiversity Ireland are launching their LETMEBEME campaign and Inclusive Educator Awards.

24 www.newsgroup.ie

The certified training courses, which offer nationally recognised qualifications including QQI, ECDL, and City and Guilds, have impacted significantly on the progression of people with a disability and/ or health conditions into employment and have seen some participants land jobs in companies such as Facebook, eir, Ryanair, Mr. Price and across the hospitality and tourism industry. People attending National Learning Network include people claiming any form of disability benefit, those recovering from an accident or injury, or living with mental health challenges, autism or learning disabilities.

Members of the public interested in attending the Dublin NLN Open Day are asked to log on to www.nln.ie to find the location of their nearest centre.

2,400 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES SUPPORTED TO FIND JOBS

In the past five years the organisation has also supported a further 3,700 people to transition to a broad range of further training opportunities with 50% progressing onto third level colleges and universities.

A training provider, National Learning Network, part of a national organisation that has supported more than 2,400 people into employment since 2017, is opening its doors to the public this month. National Learning Network, based in Ballyfermot and Tallaght, is a progressive leader in the delivery of personalised education, training, and development opportunities for people with disabilities or people requiring additional supports throughout Irish communities.

“Having a positive learning experience really comes down to having strong psychological safety in the school environment. The objective of our Inclusive Educator Awards is to celebrate, recognise and reward the educators who truly promote an inclusive learning culture and ethos throughout their entire school”, concluded Cullen.

Each year National Learning Network (NLN) also supports hundreds of people with complex and enduring mental health issues through a new programme launched in 2019 called Individual Placement and Support (IPS). IPS helps people, who would otherwise have been met with barriers to the employment market, to find work in mainstream competitive jobs. Under this initiative 616 people who participated in the IPS programme with NLN since 2019 have secured employment.

Nominations opened on September 1, 2022 and will recognise the contributions made during the school year of 2021/2022. Nominations can come from parents, students or the general public. Those that can be nominated are Principals, SNAs and teachers who are supporting and changing children’s lives by making an inclusive learning culture, allowing kids to be completely themselves! Closing date is Septemtember 30 2022. The winners will be announced at the Neurodiversity Ireland Infinity Ball on October 8, 2022.

Cullen says it is the small things that can make the biggest difference to children settling back into school; “When I was younger and being dyslexic, I dreaded school starting. I was just so fearful of having to write on the blackboard or read out loud in class, however when I had a teacher who understood why and challenged me in different ways, it was life changing. Also, as the mother of an autistic girl I am relieved (and so is she) that her school is very Shesupportive.struggles with the sensation involved in wearing the school uniform, but luckily her school is very flexible and she can wear clothes that let her feel comfortable and safe.

11,900 tonnes of electrical waste were collected in Dublin in 2021 by the country’s largest recycling scheme – an annual increase of 0.9% for the county. 11.4kg of e-waste was recycled per person last year across the Dublin City Council, South Dublin County Council and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council areas according to WEEE Ireland – higher than both the county’s 2020 collection rate of 11.3kg and the 2021 national average of 10.9kg per person.

For further details about their free and costeffective services call us on 01 4578321, email info@recycleit.ie or visit the Recycle IT website at www.recycleit.ie.

“People in Dublin have contributed greatly to e-waste recycling every year, and we want to encourage that trend,” said WEEE Ireland CEO Leo Donovan. “One of the key habits consumers are encouraged to embrace is to stop hoarding end-of-life electronic goods – estimated at 4-5kg of e-waste per person. “So many of these appliances and devices can be repaired, re-used or re-gifted, but if they cannot, make sure you recycle them for free. “Our consumption is only going in one direction. In 2021, an average of 12 household electrical products were sold for every person in “IfIreland.we are buying more electronics, we need to adopt a one plug in, one plug out mantra as we do not have enough raw materials in the ground to keep up with growing global demand. “It is now more important than ever to rescue e-waste after consumption of new electrical devices such as mobile phones, computers, small kitchen appliances and white goods soared during the pandemic.

WEEE Ireland is one of the best performing recycling schemes in Europe, with a record 18.7 million waste electrical items collected in 2021, the organisation’s annual report has revealed. 127,000 fridges and 205,000 TVs and monitors were recovered, as well as over 2.3 million lightbulbs in a total takeback of 38,464 tonnes – 57% of the average goods sold over a threeyear period. In 2021, the equivalent of 231,179 tonnes of CO2 emissions were avoided by recycling e-waste through the WEEE Ireland Scheme as opposed to landfilling. That is the equivalent of the annual carbon consumption of 4,624 hectares of trees. WEEE Ireland accounts for over two thirds of all national waste electrical and electronics collection activity on behalf of 1,296 producer members.

“After the safe removal of hazardous elements, 82% of all material that we collect is recovered for use again in manufacturing through both indigenous operators and specialist processors in “MostEurope.end-of-life products contain metals and minerals in higher concentrations than primary resources. “These stock of resources are the urban mines of the future, so our recycling efforts can have a significant impact on the environment.”

LOCAL MATTRESS RECYCLING DROP OFF DAYS

Did you know, the materials from a mattress including steel springs, foam, cloth, and wood can be removed, recycled safely, and reused for other purposes. Do you want to ensure your old mattress does not end up in a landfill and instead materials will be reused? If so, you can avail of free mattress recycling over the coming weeks. Recycle IT a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Clondalkin is proud to offer a mattress recycling amnesty to residents in South Dublin. Mattress Recycling Drop Off Days will take place on multiple dates. Householders will be able to drop off up to 10 mattresses at no cost. Just drop off to Recycle IT, Unit 14/2 Crag Terrace, Clondalkin Industrial Estate, Clondalkin Dublin D22 TK37. Their teams will be on hand to accept and help with lifting, and moving, clean, dry, unwanted mattresses. Household mattresses of any size will be accepted. This recycling initiative is operated by Recycle IT with support from South Dublin County Council. Mattress drop-off will operate Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3pm from now till Oct 7th 2022. The facility will also open on four Saturdays between 9.30am and 12.30pm including Saturday Sept 17th, Sept 24th, Oct 1st and Oct 8th 2022.

CONSUMERS RECYCLE 11,900 TONNES OF ELECTRICAL WASTE IN 2021

Several additional recycling opportunities will also be available including electrical recycling and metal recycling. When dropping off your mattress why not bring along all your old household electrical items for safe recycling. Recycle IT will accept all types of household and small office electrical equipment as part of the same drop off and at no cost to you. Recycle IT will also accept pure metal household items like old bikes, metal lawnmowers, pots, pans metal radiators, metal from trampolines, once in parts and lots more.

“Just like with the nurses, doctors and every other part of the health service, we are looking at a total collapse in the ability to recruit and retain staff. That is what leads to waiting lists and backlogs. The only people surprised by this is the Government. “We train thousands of healthcare professionals every year and then drive them overseas by treating their colleagues in Ireland terribly through appalling working conditions and substandard pay.

WAITING ON ASSESSMENT FOR DISABILITY SERVICES

“Personally, I have seen a lot of interest from local people getting in touch with me to find out how they can apply for this grant so I think an increased awareness campaign would be really beneficial to ensure that people are aware of the scheme and how to apply,” concluded Deputy Higgins.

“This is a staggering figure and is proof positive that this Government has utterly abandoned its responsibility towards our children. “Some of these applications date back to January 2020 and to force a child and their family to wait for that length of time just to find out if they’re eligible for support is simply inhumane. “We cannot have families waiting over two years just to find out if they’re allowed to join another queue to access services and to wait for as long or even longer.

CAMPAIGN NEEDED TO BOOST TAKE-UP OF GRANT AIMING TO HELP PEOPLE HAIR LOSS DUE TO CHEMOTHERAPY OR ALOPECIA

Higgins said, “After campaigning for the introduction of this grant, I am keeping an eye on its progress. I recently questioned the Minister for Social Protection on the matter and it was confirmed to me that since the introduction of the grant a little over two months ago, 183 people have received it. “While it is very positive that a number of people have benefitted so far, I am sure that many more people qualify. We need to get the word out that this grant is available to people and I encourage our medical social workers, operating within the community to remind people about the grant. “The grant operates under the Treatment Benefit Scheme and provides up to €500 for one hairpiece or wig each year. “Losing your hair can really add to the trauma of illness and for many people a wig or hairpiece gives them back a sense of themselves and boosts their confidence.

TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has said that the fact that over three thousand children are waiting on an Assessment of Need for disability services in the CHO7 area which covers south Dublin, Kildare, and West Wicklow, is proof positive that this Government has utterly abandoned its responsibility towards our children. Figures released by the HSE show that in the CHO7 area, there are 3,086 applications outstanding as of the start of August, with only 125 in progress. Teachta Crowe said “Figures released by the HSE show that in the CHO7 area, which includes south Dublin, Kildare, and West Wicklow, there are 3,086 applications for a child’s Assessment of Need for disability services outstanding as of the start of August, with only 125 in progress.

“Wigs can be hugely expensive ranging in price from €1,000- €1,500 so this grant makes them so much more accessible. “I also believe this grant should be made available to those who suffer longterm hair loss as a result of mental health issues like eating disorders such as anorexia, and this is something for which I will continue to campaign.”

An awareness campaign is needed to boost takeup of a new grant scheme designed to help people suffering from hair loss, Dublin Mid West TD has said. Deputy Emer Higgins, has established that 183 people have so far availed of the €500 grant towards the cost of a wig or a hairpiece due to hair loss as a direct result of illness such as alopecia or chemotherapy cancer Deputytreatment.

The all-new Volvo C40 Recharge is the coupé-SUV version of the multi awardwinning XC40 Recharge SUV, and it is the first Volvo car to debut as a purely electric model. Available only in a practical five door body style, the new C40 Recharge uses the same mechanicals as its high-achieving XC40 sibling, and has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower, sleeker design. The rear of the car features a distinctive striking design to go with the lower roof line, while the new front design introduces a new face for electric Volvo’s and includes headlights with state-of-the-art pixel technology. The C40 Recharge is the first Volvo with a 100 percent leather-free interior - including steering wheel, gear shifter and upholstery. Volvo believe this represents a new, more respectful interpretation of luxury and how materials can be used in car design. Impressive Infotainment. In the cabin of the new C40 Recharge, occupants benefit from a high seating position for a commanding view of the road ahead, while a range of colour and deco options unique to the model allow customers to personalise their new C40 Recharge to their own preferred choice. Like the XC40 Recharge, the new C40 Recharge comes with one of the best infotainment systems on the market, jointly developed with Google, and based on the Android operating system. It provides customers with Google apps and services built-in, such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play Store. Unlimited data enables superior connectivity, and the C40 Recharge will receive software updates over the air, so that it will continue to improve over time after it has left the factory. All five occupants of the new C40 Recharge will appreciate the traditional Volvo comfort of ergonomically designed seats, along with the pleasing levels of headroom on offer too. The rear seat is easy to fold individually into the load area floor so that passengers and/or cargo can be transported without compromising either comfort or safety. With the rear seats up, the load compartment has 413-litres of space below the load cover, but this can be expanded to 1,205-litres when all of the rear seats are folded down when the need arises. Additionally, a foldable floor acts as a handy divider to hold shopping bags secure as well as enabling hidden, lockable underfloor storage. A convenient 31-litre front load compartment provides smart extra storage, and it is the perfect space to keep your charging cables easily accessible and well protected from dirt, dust and moisture. A lower section in this storage compartment is dedicated to the storage of a puncture repair kit, with the two sections divided by an easily removable load floor.

Aswheels.isthe case with all electric cars, the instant torque from the twin electric motors in my test car enabled outstanding linear acceleration from the get-go. Producing 408bhp and a mighty 660Nm of torque, my test car completed the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.7-seconds, on its way to a top speed of 180km/h. The selectable One-Pedal-Drive feature ramps up the regenerative braking function and can bring the car to a complete stop, with little or no need to touch the brake pedal at all. Some other car manufacturer’s offer a similar feature on their EV’s, but Volvo has judged it really well and it makes for very smooth progress once you get used to it. However, if you do step on the brake pedal, the car automatically mixes regenerative and friction braking in a well-controlled fashion. The steering is light and the wheel turns without any resistance but, if you prefer, you can increase the weight of the steering via the touchscreen. Overall ride quality in the C40 Recharge is excellent, with the car’s supple suspension set-up well able to absorb road imperfections with great ease. While many cars with similar power outputs are jumpy and impatient, the C40 Recharge allows you to layer the power on smoothly and progressively, with none of the hesitating or lurching that can often be experienced in an internalcombustion-powered car.

A Volvo Care package comes as standard and includes service, roadside assistance, warranty and an insurance contribution (see your local Volvo dealership for full terms and conditions).

NEW VOLVO C40 - PURE EXPRESSION

28 www.newsgroup.ie

By Breda Corrigan

Volvo has made the new C40 Recharge an attractive and technologically-advanced EV in its own right. Excellent performance, a decent real-world driving range, outstanding comfort, and a host of driverassistance safety systems come as standard across the new C40 Recharge variant lineup. Pricing starts at €53,730 (inclusive of current Government EV incentives for private buyers, but excluding dealerrelated charges).

Rapid-Charging Capability.

The new Volvo C40 Recharge is available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) guises, with the AWD variant benefitting from twin electric motors, as opposed to a single motor in the FWD edition. With the C40 Recharge (as with its XC40 Recharge sibling) Volvo has simplified the EV driving experience by omitting a starter button and handbrake. You simply get into the car, shift the gear selector to D and you are on your way. The new C40 Recharge comes with a 78kWh lithium-ion battery that provides the car with a driving range of up to 431kms (FWD) or 441kms (AWD), and the car does come with rapidcharging capability. At the car’s maximum charging speed of 150kW, the battery can be charged from 0-80% in just 37 minutes, while a full charge from a regular 7.4kW home wallbox charger takes around 12 hours (0-100%).

Test Car Details.

My test car was a C40 Recharge Pro Twin AWD, which was finished in striking Fusion Red metallic paintwork with a contrasting Black roof and stylish 20” two-tone alloy

This year is even more special as One4all’s exciting ‘Shop4Giggles’ campaign will, for the first time, be raising vital funds to support sick children in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and Connolly. On behalf of all of us in Children’s Health Foundation, as well as the frontline staff, patients and families in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres, we’d like to thank One4all, its retail partners and wonderful customers around the country for making this campaign possible and for supporting sick children when they need it most, helping to bring big smiles to little faces.”

Additionally, five of One4all’s retail partners, Marks & Spencer, Argos, River Island, Currys and New Look have pledged to donate an additional 50c, bringing the total to €1 every time a One4all is spent with them, in-store or Launchingonline. this year’s Shop4Giggles campaign, Dad-of-two and TV presenter Ray Foley said: “As a proud teller of dad jokes, I am delighted to see that most of us get a giggle out of them although I am not sure my kids would agree! When One4all approached me to be part of this campaign, I instantly said yes as I love the idea behind it. Being in hospital is never easy, especially when you are a child. The Giggle Fund was set up to bring a little joy and fun to the patients as it is important that there’s an outlet for children to have some fun during a hospital stay. The message is simple, spend your One4all Gift Card during the 10th -18th September and you can help us raise vital funds to help brighten up a child’s day.”

TAKES PLACE 10TH - 18TH SEPTEMBER

The survey examining the dad joke phenomenon was carried out to launch One4all’s annual Shop4Giggles week in aid of the Children’s Health Foundation, a foundation supporting sick children and their families in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres in Crumlin, Temple Street, Connolly and Tallaght. Taking place from Saturday, 10th September – Sunday, 18th September, when you spend a One4all Gift Card or One4all Digital Gift Card with any of One4all’s 11,000 accepting retail partners in-store or participating online partners, One4all will donate 50c to the Giggle Fund at Children’s Health Foundation. The Giggle Fund is dedicated to bringing joy to the patients at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Temple Street, Connolly and Tallaght, and to brightening their lives, one giggle at a time.

Its official, dad jokes are funny. That’s according to a new survey by Ireland’s leading gift card company One4all. The survey of 1,720 people finds that 72% of us get a giggle out of a dad joke but 63% of us pretend not to like them! Three quarters of fathers admit to telling dad jokes with a quarter saying they do so to cheer their children up and one in five say they are subjected to a dad joke on a weekly basis.
