Promoting Digital Photo Artistry and Digital Photography
Issue 51 (Sept 2022)
My Creative Images

Mycreativeimages Magazine

September 2022

Digital art and photography can be simple, where the artist is able to create a digital image with a few clicks of the button on a camera or the mouse on a PC or even a mobile phone. However, it can be more much more complex, and require the artist has to have a lot of knowledge about software they use and a high level of skill in order to create the image they have in their mind.

The digital art and photography industry has been growing rapidly in recent years. With the help of phone Apps, Artificial Intelligence software, it has become easier for people to create digital art and edit / manipulate photographs. One of the more recent tools available is called Midjourney, and example of the artwork that can be created using AI art combined with skilled editing within Photoshop can be seen on the cover.

Although there are many different views on using AI technology to create artwork, both negative and positive, with some community’s banning images created with AI software, there is no doubt that it is a valuable tool that can be used to create resources that can be blended into artwork.

This magazine celebrates the skills and creative talents of artwork made by hobbyist, emerging and established artists from around the UK and Europe, no matter what tools they use to help them create artwork.

Hopefully by flipping through the pages you will be inspired by the artwork and maybe even be tempted to click on the links and visit one of the artists websites or social media pages.

I am a photographer and artist for passion, 62 years old and based in Moncalieri, Italy. I like to create art from my photographs because I love art. Usually when I have ideas to put into practice I take notes and draw with my iPad. I already know before I shoot what I want to accomplish. In my work I love to apply textures and overlays.

My favourite subjects are flowers and anything still life and I like also to create a macabre themes. I am fascinated by the macabre, life after death and the teachings of yoga art.

I have never taken a photography class, I am self taught and learn from books and online classes.

I retired a few years ago, and since I had more free time, I decided it was time to expand my photo art skills.

I have been a member of my local camera club for many years, but I wanted to branch out in areas of photography that would be more artistic and outside the style of photographs that are most successful in club competitions. With this in mind, four years ago I joined the international online Photoshop course “My Photo Artistic Life” created by Sebastian Michaels. I have never regretted my decision and I am still a member of this vibrant and artistic FaceBook community.

A few months ago I joined another online course “Elevate your Art”, this time learning to paint with Photoshop’s mixer brush. My vision is, one day, to be able to paint images which will look like oil paintings.

You are welcome to visit my website to see some samples of my Photo Art.

Technology moves at such a pace, but sometimes we forget that our mental and corporeal facilities need time to catch up. I have been completing personal training on how to understand and develop my Artistic Vision. However good we may think we are, there are still areas in which we can improve, the course I am taking takes a “deep dive” into this concept and I await to see how it affects my personal Artistic Vision.

Early on in the course, not really, perhaps, an intention of the course leader it was suggested that our vision has already been evolving. Perhaps not in a way we would recognise as such. I decided to look any my earlier photographs to see if things had evolved. I learned so much right away, perhaps my photographic Artistic Vision had not changed that much…but my PhotoArt Artistic Vision had undergone major and significant changes.

Part way through the course I can see that both my photographic and my PhotoArt Artistic Visions will change for the better…quite how yet I am not sure…but already I can feel a change in my modus operandi.

Looking back I saw chances to use older photographs with a new approach to my developing PhotoArt hence art from the Masai Mara a French Monastery and Budapest this month. Also some images from the recent American Civil War and American Pioneer re-enactments as detailed last month.

James is BOLD and direct, this is reflected in his art. He doesn’t let other peoples actions or approaches to life corrupt his mind or attitude. He is his TRUE SELF and has learned to follow his own path brushing himself off and carrying on when he stumbles or has taken a wrong turn, he learns from mistakes or failures. James has turned his negative thoughts about his dreams and ambitions, “its impossible”, into his reality “I’m Possible” this was achieved when he realised he is his most underused and undervalued asset. When asked to describe his work James responded as follows:

“I am an Artist. I am a creator. I am a creative entrepreneur. I turn Love, Joy, Passion, challenging emotions into art that makes connections between fantasy and reality to make photo-art that feeds the creative mind and generates happiness at a subconscious level.

I LOVE who I am and I POUR this love, my compassion and raw emotions into my photography and Photo-art as a way of sharing my LOVE with you. My sole aim is to leave a lasting impression on people that I meet, that interact with me online or choose to invest in my work, either my artwork or the magazine.

In short, if you want artwork that resonates with an emotion you have experienced or that fuels your thoughts then look no further, but remember, emotions should be observed and recognised for what they are they should be learnt from and not drive your choice and decision making.

To stay on track with your journey you must adapt and overcome obstacles.

Stay on track so you can complete your journey and fly amongst the clouds.

“Becoming Something Different”
Sometimes we need to change. Change can be painful and difficult.

For some people the obstacles they need to overcome to reach their destination are significantly different to yours.

“Dont take the journey for granted”
Dont judge others until you can understand the journey they have take to get where they are.

I have just one piece of artwork to submit this month which is entitled ‘Behind The Mask’. The original image was taken in Liverpool in 2011. I knew at the time it had potential but I didn’t have the skills or knowhow to bring it alive. Eleven years later I am pleased with how it has turned out.

On the back of my participation in the pre-Christmas ‘Photo8’ exhibition at Trapezium Gallery I was asked if I would give a talk and demonstration at a local camera club. I accepted the invitation, although this is well out of my comfort zone, because I believe that when opportunities come along they should be grabbed with both hands. The talk takes place at the end of March.

Another first for me is my upcoming exhibition ‘Going Solo’ at Shipley Underground Market, West Yorkshire. This will be the first time that an exhibition is made up of just my artwork. It will take place at between 9th and 23rd April 2023.

26 My name is Susan Jones I have loved photography all my life, though I was rejected from the photography class at school due to not having my own SLR camera. About 20 years ago a bought a DSLR and haven’t looked back, I love taking photos, mostly studio but as often as possible getting out and about, particularly London. I have been using Photoshop for a few years, and to my joy found Sebastian Michaels Photoshop Artistry courses and then Awake and have learned so much about Photoshop and continue to learn every day. I love the program, I love changing plain photographs into fantasy colourful worlds. I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoyed creating it. 32 This month I was lucky enough to visit a beautiful cathedral in Anagni, Lazio, Italy –notable as the summer residence of the Popes for centuries (https://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Anagni_Cathedral) I was particularly inspired by the beautiful mosaics adorning the floors, and managed to take a few photos with my phone. I plan to use these as backgrounds and overlays in some of my photo art. Vivien Capper https://saatchiart.com/vivienjane
