Welcome to Goa, the birthplace of Psytrance which today is a lot more commercialised, but still remains a place where most of the global Psy-scene and the biggest Psy acts meet on its beaches and celebrate grand parties. Goa has had its ups and downs since 2000, parties had to stop at an early hour, but recently they have been going all night again. Namaste! Willkommen in Goa, dem Geburtsland des Psytrance, welches heute viel kommerzialisierter ist, aber immer noch ein Ort, wo sich ein Großteil der globalen Psyszene und der größten Acts trifft und fette Partys am Strand feiert. Goa sah seit 2000 ein Auf und Ab, Partys endeten mitten in der Nacht, aber seit kurzem gehen sie wieder die ganze Nacht.

Anjuna’s weekly Wednesday flea market is as much part of the Goan experience as a day on the beach. More than 3 decades ago, it was conceived and created by hippies smoking jumbo joint selling pairs of Levi jeans to help fund the rest of their stay. Even if much more mainstream now it’s must to visit this colorful place.The best time to visit is early (from 8am) or late afternoon (around 4pm till close just after sunset). Anjunas wöchentlicher Mittwoch Flohmarkt ist ebenso ein Erlebnis wie ein Tag am Strand. Vor mehr als 30 Jahren von Hippies ins Leben gerufen um ihre Levi’s zu verkaufen ist hier nun viel Mainstream aber immer noch ein kunterbunter Treiben und Menschen von überall. Ein muss! Goa Jonas aka Jonas Kersten was born in Germany but grew up in Goa. He recently celebrated his 20 years‘ anniversary as a DJ – in 1998 he was the youngest DJ, who ever played at Boom aged 14. He plays is groovy day-time Psytrance with psychedelic bleeps & blobs, melodies and groovy baselines between 139 - 146 BPMs. Together with Uwe Siebert he is responsible for the music Antaris Project. Currently, he is finishing his first compilation, to be released soon on Harmonia Records, featuring 10 unreleased tracks. Goa Jonas aka Jonas Kersten geboren in Deutschland wuchs auf in Goa. Gerade hat er 20 Jahre als DJ gefeiert – er war 1998 mit 14 der jüngste DJ, der jemals auf der Boom auflegte. Er spielt groovigen Tages-Psytrance mit psychedelischen bleeps & blobs, melodisch mit groovigen Bässen zwischen 139 - 146 BPMs. Zusammen mit Uwe Siebert ist er verantwortlich für die Musik auf der AntarisProject. Relaxing places after a long night you find at coconut beach, coral bay, Thong Nai Pan, Mae Haad Beach. Take a trip to Koh Tao where you find excellent snorkelling conditions and romantic bays. Visit the Than Sadet Waterfalls and a real nice day trip is Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park. Visit with a long boat. A visit to one of the Yoga Centers is recommendable or just have a massage after a party night.

K-Isuma and Scotty are both Psychedelic Trance acts since more than twenty years, K-Isuma is based in Hamburg and Spain. Scotty is based in Hamburg but also Koh Phangan. K-Isuma already played in over 50 countries worldwide. Scotty is co-founder of the famous VooV Experience and later he initated the VuuV festival, today Planet Vuuv. Both are involved in the Koh Tao Experience Party which is a definitely a highlight to welcome the New Year. K-Isuma wie auch Scotty sind Psychedelic Trance Acts seit mehr als 20 Jahren K-Isuma ist in Hamburg und in Spanien beheimatet. Scotty ist Traveller zwischen Hamburg und Koh Phangan. South Africa Psytrance is a way of Life, a way of Living that teaches us the Beauty of the World and our Relationship to it.

In South Africa the Vortex has the same standing as does the VuuV Experience in Germany, its deemed the mother of all parties. Without having lost any authenticity in the 21 years of its existence this event is an inherent part of our party culture. Throughout this time Grant Dreyer and his crew have accomplished perfect work of upscale quality. What makes this whole thing so extraordinary is not only the beautiful location, a farm about 60 miles from Cape Town, justly called ‘Circle of Dreams’, but also that with regard to both the crowd or the style it has retained its exceptional standards. The Vortex is and remains a true Goatrance event in body and soul. Besides the wellbeing of the attendees, perfect technique and

decoration, still in the foreground is that neither work nor costs have ever been or will be avoided to realise this party on the first weekend in December. This and two more events at the year’s end are worth visiting this country, which moreover offers attractive while sublime quality of life within a heavenly scenery and culture. To me South Africa and this 4-day-festival are one of the last true adventures and I am really looking forward to 2016, when it will be again: Vortex – Open Source – Trance Adventure. Der Vortex kommt in Südafrika die gleiche Stellung zu wie der VuuV Experience in Deutschland, sie gilt als Mutter aller Partys. Ohne in den 21 Jahren ihres Bestehens etwas an Authentizität verloren zu haben ist dieses Event fester Bestandteil unserer Partykultur. Grant Dreyer und seine Crew leisten seit jeher perfekte Arbeit in gehobener Qualität. Was das Ganze so außergewöhnlich macht ist nicht nur diese wunderschöne Location, eine Farm ca. 100 km entfernt von Kapstadt, welche zu Recht den Namen ‘Circle of Dreams’ trägt, sondern ebenso dass sie im Hinblick auf Publikum oder Gestaltungsflair exzeptionell geblieben ist. Die Vortex ist und bleibt eine wirkliche Goa-Trance-Veranstaltung mit Herz und Seele. Im Vordergrund stehen neben dem Wohl der Besucher, perfekter Technik und Dekoration, dass nie Arbeit oder Kosten gescheut wurden, um diese Party am ersten Wochenende im Dezember umzusetzen.

Tell us something about yourself & your production activity My name is Aggelos Mavros. I am half Greek & half Greek, 33 years old. Started making music with Impulse Tracker in the year 1996. The first complete track was made with Mad Tracker in the year 1999. Since then I have been searching for methods to improve my audio outputs.

Aggelos Mavros, (Open Source), founder of Ghost Label Records is ready to release his new album, that’s filled with great melodies, and smooth psychedelic beats. In this interview he gives us his frank opinions on the scene.

What triggers you to compose? I just like creating things from scratch. For example, I do not enjoy „gaming“ because there are limitations in every aspect. But „art“ is unlimited, you can do whatever you want with it. How would you describe your style of music? Well, if you want us to be exact concerning the etymology & the designation of the genre, then we have to forget all misleading descriptions, such as ‘progressive‘ or ‘melodic‘ & just call it „psychedelic trance“. I am a little bit psychedelic. Nothing more. What are you working on at the moment? I just finished an album that I call „Melodies Strike Back“. It will be released in more than 300 shops/ portals worldwide, as also, 5.000 copies will be distributed for free through the mushroom magazine. What is the new CD all about? Well, it seems that the art of melody forming has been forgotten in some Psytrance circles. Most artists pay maximum attention to

how to come up with a greater sound. They worry too much about the mixing by leaving a very important factor out of the game. On the other hand, the mass of young listeners pay attention only to the kick itself. It seems that we have all forgotten the reasons we fell in love with music in the first place. But not this time. This time melodies will strike back as in the good old times. How do you think the modern psychedelic sound is shaped ? This is a very hard matter to approach. You might believe that as technology evolves, the music evolves too. Like somehow, becoming more advanced, more clear. Unfortunately, that is not quite true. We are using exactly the same equipment, virtual or real instruments as we did 7-8

years ago. So ask yourself, what is changing, if not the software/ hardware? We can definitely listen to more advanced sound if we compare, for instance, the sound of the present Neelix with the sound of the past Neelix. The answer is a bit complicated, but what is mainly changing is the way we listen & absorb music, the trends & above all...the experience of the producer. What can you say about the world‘s scene? The scene is fantastic & the hippie movement is the only circle that has established a state of awareness, judging from a philosophical point of view. What can you say about your country‘s scene? 25 & nobody opened any door for me. I entered the Psytrance scene from the back door, meaning.. I did everything by myself. Created a label, did promotion & all the rest. Even now they still pretend that I do not exist. Maybe I don‘t. Who knows? Being a DJ/Live act is actually profitable? I would never recommend it. Being a producer is like being the ultimate investor. You invest your money, your time, your life, & you don‘t know when or IF something good is going to happen to you. My first booking took place 14 years after i started making music. I turned out to be very stubborn. I am here for the long haul! :)

What can you say to new producers ? The first years in production you might feel or they might tell you that you have „no talent“. Things like „talent“ do not exist in the real world. Ein „familäres Erlebniscamp am See“ steigert sich im Laufe einer Woche in ein Trance Festival der ganz besonderen Art – und zwar auf einer der besten Locations der Szene. Unter Festival-Nomaden dürfte das Stichwort „Badesee Preddöhl“ Erinnerungen wecken. Ziemlich gute Erinnerungen: Die hügelige Location direkt am Wasser wird als beste der nordostdeutschen Festival-Sphäre gehandelt. Ursprünglich fand dort die Spiritual Healing statt, 2014 ist an ihre Stelle die New Healing getreten. Nicht nur die gleiche Location, sondern auch Ähnlichkeiten im außergewöhnlichen Ansatz führen immer wieder zur Frage: Was genau ist neu an der New Healing? „Die New Healing Crew war bei den alten Spiritual Healing Festivals noch nicht dabei“ antwortet das nette Team. „Urspünglich hatten wir uns zusammengefunden, um die Spiritual Healing Veranstalter zu unterstützen. During one week a “lakeside camp for the psychedelic family” evolves into a buzzing Trance festival – on one of the best open air locations of the scene. The feedback during the last two editions of New Healing was just great and made the festival a firmly established event of the German open air season within no time. One of the most important reasons is certainly its unique approach. The promoters speak of a „lakeside camp for the psychedelic family“ rather than a music festival. New Healing starts on Monday already – with the “Healing Days”. Until Friday the gathering offers a multi-faceted programme with more than 100 concerts, lectures, workshops and lots and lots of interaction. It‘s all about music, dance, movement, creative activities in groups and individual practice. The mind and the body seemingly operate as though part of a cohesive whole…or so we think, but once astral projection is mastered, this perception dissolves. The physical world we experience through our five senses is but a fragment of the entire spectrum of realities available to those who care to explore. Astral Projection

permits the practitioner’s soul to leave the physical realm, and step into hidden planes. This method of spiritual exploration is also known as OBE, or Out of Body Experience, but hold down the fear, the soul always remains connected to the body by means of a silver cord. Once in the astral plane, one can visit exotic places, converse with other entities, and have profound life enhancing experiences…the possibilities are limited only by the imagination.

There are a number of techniques available that facilitate OBE’s, one of them is the “Roll-Out Method.” Lie on your back in a darkened room, empty your mind

of thoughts, and relax. Focus your awareness on the body, after a while you start feeling faint vibrations, as you concentrate on these sensations, they should intensify, these oscillations work to separate the astral body from the physical body. When the vibrations peak, attempt to roll over, as you would roll out of bed, ideally this should lead you to literally roll-out of your body.
