Savoring The Sweet Moments

By Author

Sandra Mihic I am a mother of 3 kids, a wife of a wonderful man, a proud and supportive food community blogger, a self taught cook and photographer, and now new author of a cookbook Sandra's Easy Cooking: Savoring the Sweet Moments. I think—like most foodies—once you start food blogging you might consider, at least once, to write your own cookbook. I was thinking about it ever since I started blogging but it always seemed an impossible task to tackle...I had to learn a lot before starting this journey, from cooking, photography, design etc. I really sat down and studied. I spent probably minimum 3 hours daily just watching videos and reading how to do many things. There were also my foodie friends, where I got more

inspiration and learned from many. Somewhere in early November, I went with my husband and our good friends, the Turners, for a lunch. Our friend said, "You have to write a cookbook." Of course, my husband strongly agreed. When we came home, I kept asking my husband "Do you really think I could do that?" He never ever said that he was joking; instead, he kept showering me with his support, which was what I truly needed. Many nights, I would lay down and repeat in my head, like a prayer, "If you believe in yourself, anything is possible!" I pushed myself to the last drop of energy to do everything that involved being proud of something I only dreamt of a year ago.

bring it down to what I really, really loved and felt like I had to share with everybody. Actually, that was the easy part—at least for me. Editing, checking, rechecking, and designing were harder because I had to follow the rules and requirements of the printing/publishing house once I started to prepare/edit the book for them. My family did enjoy those days when sometimes I would cook more than 3-4 meals and few desserts a day just to taste and see how it would look. However, they didn't enjoy it as much when I started to work on editing because I had less cooking time. So, quick meals, fresh fruits and veggies, and eggs came to my rescue. Now Every day, I collected recipes that I saw and I

PROTECTING PAIGE

Paige has her hands full with a suddenly rebellious teenage son. To distract herself from worrying, she basically barges into her handsome, invalid neighbor's life and starts cooking for him. Poor Tommy! He's a cop – a former K9 handler – who has suffered a career-ending gunshot injury, and he just wants to be left alone to lick his wounds. But he's no match for the force that is Paige. Of course, when it turns out that her son is not just troubled but in trouble, Tommy gets drawn inexorably into their lives. Some of my favorite scenes to research and write were the meals, each topped off by a fabulous dessert. [There’s something lushly romantic about that, isn’t there? Raspberry Zabaglione for Two - Divide the berries between two dessert glasses. (I don't have proper dessert glasses, so I used crystal glasses.) - Place an inch or so of water in the bottom saucepan from your double boiler and bring to a simmer. In the top saucepan of your double boiler, whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and Marsala wine vigorously until well mixed. Place the saucepan over the simmering water and continue to whisk until the mixture doubles and thickens (4-5 minutes). Pour it over raspberries. Garnish with fresh mint and serve hot. Alternatively, make ahead and refrigerate. It's gorgeous cold, too. NOTE: For non alcoholic version omit wine and replace it with white grape juice.
