BACK IN TIME 1982 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ45
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a popular series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corporation. The Land Cruiser, along with the Hilux utility, has been used in the world’s most grueling terrains and climates. The Design of the Land Cruiser began in 1951 as a Toyota Jeep-like vehicle and production began in 1954. The Land Cruiser has been produced in many different versions such as the convertible, hardtop, station wagon and utility. In many places, the term Land Cruiser has even become a generic term for an off-road vehicle. Coming to the point, we all dream of owning fancy and flashy cars, but for Stewart, a South Africa based In Tanzania, he likes doing things his own way. With a passion for restorations, he has proudly and passionately built a one of a kind Toyota Landcruiser FJ45, all from scratch. Built on a Landcruiser hardtop chassis, this 1982 Land Cruiser took a busy 4 months to build at a cost of $15,000. Totally Worth it for a head turning project In the words of Stewart, ‘We wanted a classic car that is part of history that is why we chose to build this 1982 Toyota Landcruiser FJ45’.
ENGINE A lot of the classic touch has been left in the car. A Straight 6, 4.2L engine with a weeber carburetor and a BMC performance Air filter. The engine and gearbox is completely overhauled.
INTERIOR The Dash board, Centre panel, Steering wheel and gear knobs are still the original self. The roof top has been cut and made into a convertible. It is covered with a tarpaulin cloth.
EXTERIOR The car is built on a landcruiser hardtop chassis. The head is from the 1982 FJ45 and the body is custom made. The truck has been given a eye catching, shiny yellow paint job with its chassis painted black. Definitely very hard to miss! The back bit is rubberized, a service provided by Stewart’s very own company, Nyati Linings. If you are now asking yourself, how do I get hold of this one of a kind, classic beauty? Well look no further, this baby is up for grabs. The price for owning a one of a kind semi sport, semi classic pickup truck? $15,000. With such a passion for restoration and a keen interest in classics, what next for Stewart? As we speak, he is currently working on restoring a 1962 BMW motorcycle to showroom condition. Manchester United gear up season shirt deal with Chevrolet Manchester United have revealed a bumper seven-year shirt sponsorship deal with car firm Chevrolet that is worth around £25million per season. The link-up which will see the American company's name on the front of United's jerseys from the 2014-15 season - will boost the coffers at Old Trafford. There are fears over the club's long-term stability with the mounting debts under the Glazers, who are considering floating on the New York Stock Exchange. Chevrolet will be the club's fifth shirt sponsor in history and the deal is worth well over the £20m per season Aon are currently paying. United’s commercial director Richard Arnold said: 'This is a fantastic, long-term deal for the club. 'We have been partners with Chevrolet for only six weeks, but already they have produced some fantastic ideas that will benefit both the partnership and our 659 million followers around the world. 'They are a key partner on our current tour and I know they have enjoyed experiencing the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in South Africa, China, and Europe. 'It is a great thrill for those of us who work with partners all year round when an existing partner steps up to being one of our principal partners. This commitment to United and its fans will bring real benefits to everyone who cares about the club.
Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe Porsche is going to launch a new baby SUV coupeThe Cajun crossover. It shares its underpinnings with Audi Q5 and will be offered in 2 door and 4 door body styles.There will be hybrid version similar to Audi Q5. This is the first vehicle built by Porsche under VW and will be competing against the Range Rover Evoque. 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds and will weigh 1,700kgs . Porsche plans to build 50,000 Macans a year.
Audi has recently received a multitude of awards from multiple parts of the world, with all the honors having arrived in July. The new A3 managed to receive three awards in Australia, as part of the Automotive Brand Contest, where the compact was named “Best of Best”, while also receiving awards for its exterior design and having its connect options praised in the Connectivity category. In the US, the fresh Audi A6 received the the International Design Excellence Award 2012 (IDEA) for its “innovative product design”. In addition to that, the A6 range also got the red dot award for it “unique product design”.
VW, Porsche finalise early merger Europe's biggest carmaker Volkswagen has wrapped up its takeover of German sports car group Porsche two years earlier than planned in a move they said would strengthen both firms. In a deal announced last month, the two companies - which had been seeking to merge since 2009 - agreed to move up the integration of their businesses to to create economies of scale in an increasingly tough global market. "The path is now finally clear for a bright future together, "Even closer cooperation will enable us to significantly strengthen Volkswagen and Porsche, and further expand the group's product portfolio with fascinating new vehicles " VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn said in a statement. Under the agreement, which they said would unlock 320 million euros in net synergies, VW paid Porsche's current holding company Porsche SE 4.5 billion euros plus one VW share for the 50.1 per cent it did not already own in the sports car maker. VW initially acquired 49.9 per cent in Porsche in 2009 in the first stage of a complex takeover agreement, the completion of which then ran into a number of legal and tax hurdles. The new merger structure will also have the advantage of averting massive tax payments for VW. Prior to VW's takeover of Porsche, the sports car maker had itself tried, but failed, to swallow the much larger VW, running up more than 10 billion euros of debt in the process. VW's brands currently include Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti and Scania and MAN trucks.
