CALL FOR PROPOSALS for organizing a fashion show Background Access to markets is at the heart of the success of any business, be it micro, small, medium or large. Success of an enterprise depend largely on its ability to get its products to targeted consumers or market segments. These markets can either be local or abroad. Indigenous MSMEs face many limitations such access to finance, access to raw materials and most importantly, access to markets. In order to arrest this challenge, Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) has crafted a Market Access programme, which is a package of interventions which unlock market for micro, small and medium enterprises - domestic and export markets. Purpose of the Market Access programme of BEDCO The Market Access Programme of BEDCO is intended to expose MSME’s products and services to potential buyers and also for networking between MSMEs and their potential clients. It is an initiative by BEDCO to unlock market access for MSME’s products and services. BEDCO leads the hosting of this event. The programme is intended to bring MSMEs together to network and know each other’s products and services for purposes of igniting value chains where necessary, showcase their products and services to potential buyers and to demonstrate the value of the private sector in the economic development of Lesotho as its engine-room. Introduction Therefore, BEDCO invites interested Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) to organise a fashion show on behalf of BEDCO. The Fashion show is intended to be a platform that grants MSMEs whose product line is in textiles and garments to expose their products to potential buyers. The show is intended to open a room for networking between buyers and sellers, with the expectation that the former will place orders in the future. Terms of reference for the successful BDO • Aggressively mobilise SMMEs working on textiles and garments to participate in the fashion show in satisfactory numbers (more than 80 percent of the mobilised textile and garment producers), • To build the MSMEs’ interest in the show through awareness-raising initiatives and other mobilisation strategies in order to garner the support of a good number of participants at the show, • To trigger the demand of potential buyers who will come to the show for networking and also buying products displayed by participating textile and garment producers, • Working closely with potential participants in the show, explaining what is expected from them to make the show a successful event, • Branding the show with BEDCO’s and the BDSP’s material in order to build the corporate profile, not only of BEDCO, but of the BDSP itself for recognition even for future similar endeavours, • Conducting (in collaboration with BEDCO) a brief training of participating textile and garment producers on presentation, product display, customer care, stall management, selling and exhibitions skills. This takes place ahead of the show. Expected Outcomes • A Successful fashion show as regards satisfactory participation of textile and garment producers (more than 80 percent of the mobilised textile and garment producers). • A successful fashion show in terms of potential buyers who show up at the show to view exhibitors’ products, • Satisfactory branding of the BEDCO’s and the BDSP’s material in order to build the corporate profile, not only of BEDCO, but of the BDSP
