COMMUNITY EDUCATION / SUMMER RECREATION BROCHURE SPRING/SUMMER 2017 VOL. 24 NO. 1

Education is touted as essential to a community’s growth and development. Schools need businesses and businesses need schools. Communities need high performing schools to create a community that is attractive to businesses, and schools need the financial support generated from the community. Understanding a community’s vision and aspirations and being part of its development allows and requires schools to play a pivotal role that is necessary in highly successful communities. Schools should be seen as a primary contributor to human capital development and not just as a needed expenditure. Education has a significant role in national security because schools cultivate the raw material needed to secure future growth and development. Schools form the most valuable crop…… our students’ hearts and minds. My experience this school term working with the West Central Area Schools confirms the notion that student success results from zealous, determined teachers who are compassionate, purposeful and command that students do their best work. Equally important, I have found a school board and administrative team that works to remove barriers that often rob people of joy and pride in doing their best work. The way to prepare for the future is through education – education in how to think. This school district is doing essential work in focusing on helping parents and the community at large to develop kids who are smart, good, compassionate, just, hopeful, appreciative people ready to lead a resilient life. This is a quality place (school and community). Hold on to your unique small town characteristics while simultaneously growing into your future.

Charles D. Cheney, Interim Superintendent Welcome to West Central Area Community Education

There have been a lot of changes in our district over the last year, but I am proud to say our strong summer rec programming has stayed constant. We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new this summer. Along with some of our changes comes a new way of registration. Some of you may have received our digital registration through Constant Contact. This has allowed us to keep paper registrations to a minimum. Once you click on the course of your choice you will be redirected to a Google Form page. Fill in all of the required fields and then submit. You will then have a choice to pay electronically or to pay with check or cash. If paying by cash or check, please place it in a sealed envelope labeled with the child’s name, the class they are registering for, and the amount enclosed. Thank you again for choosing West Central Area Community Education. If you have any questions please contact:
