Transcript Evaluation Our transfer coordinators will complete an evaluation to determine how your credits will transfer once you submit your transcripts from previous colleges. “One thing that attracted me to Morehead State was their acceptance rates. MSU has a really good reputation of getting into professional schools. The classes are challenging, but I feel like I’m not just getting through them. I feel like I’m actually learning” Krystal Keeton initially went to the University of Pikeville to play college basketball, but an injury led the Raceland, Kentucky, native to transfer to MSU to have the best chances of pursuing her long-term career goal of becoming a physical therapist. Currently majoring in exercise science and a member of the Tau Sigma Transfer Honors Society, Keeton still loves to stay active either by visiting at the Recreation and Wellness Center or hiking at Eagle Lake and nearby Cave Run Lake. 5

FLEXIBILITY MSU offers you the flexibility to explore a variety of degree programs through a mix of face-toface and online classes. Most of our regional campuses offer daytime, evening and weekend classes, allowing you to pursue a path to your college degree that fits your schedule and your life. Regional campuses are located in Ashland, Mt. Sterling and Prestonsburg. We also offer classes in Hazard at the University Center of the Mountains.

Transfer Admission Requirements Complete the Undergraduate Admission & Scholarship Application and submit your $30 non-refundable application processing fee. Submit official college transcripts from each previously attended college or university. If you have completed 23 or fewer college credit hours, submit your ACT/SAT scores and final high school transcript or GED scores. Don’t forget to send the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to MSU (FAFSA Code: 001976).

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the lifetime earnings of high school graduates is $1.2 million on average. College graduates with a bachelor’s degree earn an average of $2.1 million over their lifetime. Financial Aid Tips for Transfer Students • Students must be seeking a degree at MSU in order to be eligible for federal financial aid. • Students who plan to transfer to MSU should make sure they have filed the FAFSA. You may add MSU to your FAFSA at any time (code: 001976) by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students who did not file online may call 800-433-3243 for assistance. MSU cannot determine aid eligibility until the FAFSA is received. • It’s important to maintain a 3.0 GPA when transferring to MSU in order to maintain eligibility for KEES and to retain transfer scholarships (if received). Transfer work is not calculated in your MSU GPA, but is used to determine initial scholarship eligibility. • To be awarded in a timely manner, you must complete the financial aid process, enroll at MSU and cancel any pending financial aid at other institutions 30-45 days prior to MSU’s first disbursement date of the semester. • Most financial aid awards are projected for full-time enrollment. If you plan to enroll for fewer than 12 credit hours, your financial aid may be adjusted. You must be enrolled at least half-time to receive a Direct Student Loan. Students utilizing concurrent enrollment must complete a concurrent enrollment form each semester for classes taken at KCTCS. • If you transfer to MSU in the middle of the academic year, we must determine if you have received aid at any other school during the academic year. This may delay receipt of your disbursement and require an adjustment to your award. You can apply for various grants and loans from state, federal and private sources if you need financial assistance.

This scholarship offers varying amounts to Kentucky transfer students from Bell, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin and Pike counties. Eagle Express Joint Admission If you are a student in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), you can get immediate, cost-free benefits and an even smoother transition as a transfer student. Eagle Express, a joint admission program, allows you to earn an associate degree from KCTCS with access to academic advising from both KCTCS and MSU, ensuring your courses transfer. You also receive an EagleCard, giving you access to MSU activities and facilities. If you are a current student at Ashland, Big Sandy, Bluegrass, Hazard, Maysville or Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical Colleges, we believe joint admission is the perfect way to continue and enhance your education.
Join Eagle Express When you are ready to transfer from KCTCS, MSU’s transfer team will be there to make the process seamless and stress-free. Submit your $30 non-refundable application processing fee. • Send Transcripts: Have official transcripts sent from every college/university you’ve attended to the Office of Enrollment Services. (NOTE: If you have completed 23 or fewer credit hours, submit your official ACT/SAT scores and high school transcript with date of graduation posted.) 3. Do Your Research: Some programs have special application guidelines. Check the website for more information. 4. Financial Aid: Complete the FAFSA as soon after Oct. 1 as possible. Eagle student-athletes have won the prestigious OVC Institutional Academic Excellence Award 12 times and our teams finish among leaders in their conference and nationwide. Our Morehead State cheerleaders are frequently declared the best cheerleading squad in the nation. They compete at the Universal Cheerleading Association college cheerleading championships in Orlando, Florida, and have walked away with 46 national titles.
