Tony Walsh

Rafiki Jazz

Standing two metres tall, Tony Walsh is often billed as a ‘giant,’ a ‘colossus’ or a ‘towering talent’ on the UK performance poetry scene. As Longfella he has a long-legged logo, but it’s his remarkable poetry, rather than his notable height, which makes him really stand out from the crowd. His trademark mix of intimacy and controversy, comedy and tragedy has stunned audiences from grass-roots poetry gigs to international literature festivals.

Rude 2.0

feat. Annie Whitehead Rude 2.0 is the FX-laden quartet of Annie Whitehead (trombone & effects), Chris Dowding (trumpet & electronics), Jennifer Maidman (bass) and Liam Genockey (drums) playing a mixture of free improvisation, combined with reggae, funk and other grooves. Annie is originally from Oldham, she has worked with Penguin Café Orchestra, Carla Bley and Robert Wyatt and toured with South African Jazz big band The Brotherhood of Breath. David Ross is a restless and unconventional multi-instrumentalist who brings an intensely musical quality to every instrument he touches. In recent years he has become increasingly absorbed in analogue electronics and has developed The Davestation an electronic instrument morphed from his earlier invention The Drossillator.

As part of the Hack Morecambe season of arts and technology Loz Kaye’s sound piece The Ocean Misses A Beat will be resident at More Music. The work is made from field recordings of waves in Heybrook Bay, where Loz swam as a child. The sound of the sea is transformed just as we are transforming the planet. A thought provoking piece of ‘sound hacking’ in a time of climate change.
