Monmouth college has invested $120 million over the past twelve years to upgrade every aspect of the campus, from three new residence halls, to a $22 million athletic center and a $42 million Center for Science and Business, to complete renovations of the library and chapel.

The college’s military Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) allows a student to earn an officer’s commission in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves or Army National Guard upon earning his or her bachelor’s degree. We train community leaders and encourage civic engagement and responsibility. Monmouth is the birthplace of two well-known national sororities—Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Gamma—and maintains a total of eight Greek chapters for men and women. Approximately one in four MC students takes advantage of the leadership opportunities afforded by membership in a fraternity or sorority, including charitable projects, support groups, study resources, and scholarships.
The Monmouth curriculum places an emphasis on community service. Student organizations perform dozens of service projects each year. Fraternities and sororities are particularly active, raising many thousands of dollars annually for philanthropic purposes.

The Fighting Scots have a storied tradition in NCAA Division III athletics, but a recent commitment to new and renovated facilities has had a profound impact on all 22 team sports. MC’s men have won the Midwest Conference All-Sports title five times since 2005, and the women have won the award twice during that span. Men’s track and field brought home second- and third-place team trophies, respectively, from the 2008 and 2007 national meets. Since 2005, seven track athletes have won eight NCAA championships, and the football team has won four conference titles. Men’s track and field has swept the indoor and outdoor conference titles every year since 2001, and the women have swept the titles each year since 2005. The track program has produced at least one All-American every year since 1985. Net sports have enjoyed a resurgence. Volleyball claimed its second conference crown with a league title in 2010. The men’s tennis team earned second place in the conference in three of the last four years, and in 2011, they were ranked 21st in the Central Region by the ITA, marking the first time the Scots have been ranked in the history of the program. The men’s tennis team has also crowned nine champions since 2011.

The Scots have also had success in the winter season. The 2011–12 women’s basketball team made history by earning its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth and the 2012-13 squad set the school record for wins. In the pool, Monmouth’s women swimmers posted back-to-back third-place conference finishes in 2012–2013, their highest finish in the history of the program. The men’s swim team has crowned 14 conference champions since 2008, and men’s and women’s water polo were added as varsity sports for the 2013–14 academic year.
