1888 When the world’s first football competition ‘The Football League’ was founded, Mitre’s factory was already stitching footballs.

1964 Denis Law, one of football’s first superstars, becomes official Mitre spokesperson. 2010 Prostar becomes the official kit supplier to the England School Boys Under 18s. 2014 Mitre launches the Delta V12S, match ball of the AFF Suzuki Cup, The Football League, and the SPFL among others. BALL USAGE & SUITABILITY

DIFFERENT SURFACES ASTRO TURF There are many different types of astro turf, from the pure synthetic fibre to filled fibre where fillings can vary from sand to ground rubber. All have one thing in common: they react with the ball like hard ground, increasing the bounce. Also many have much less drag/grip on the ball than natural turf. Because of this we normally recommend reduced ball pressure to 7-9 psi to slow down the ball and grain finish material to increase the drag.

BALL CARE AND PRESSURE Care should be taken when inserting the inflation needle into the ball to prevent damaging the valve and bladder. Mitre Glycerine should be used to allow the needle to be inserted smoothly. This is particularly important on initial inflation as the wall of the bladder can be punctured if the needle is pushed in too far before any air is pumped in. The amount of pressure in a ball will significantly affect the performance and durability of the ball. Pressure should be checked regularly as not only do balls gradually lose air through the wall of the bladder, but temperature can also alter the pressure by 1 psi for every 10ºC. The recommended pressure is printed on the ball and this should be checked regularly with a Mitre pressure gauge. If the ball gets wet during play, it should be dried in an airy place and not force dried with heat as this may damage the ball.

A part worn shiny ball also gives this effect. Many artificial pitches are surrounded by fences and walls which can easily damage the ball so we highly recommend more economic balls to reduce the cost of replacing damaged balls. SYNTHETIC SURFACES Asphalt and treated concrete. Not all synthetic surfaces are astro turf. On most, abrasion is the main problem and we have a range of economic training balls and high abrasion-resistant match balls which will cope with these surfaces. SPORTS HALL Wooden tiles, carpet and indoor pitches. All are dry so water absorption is not a problem, but the abrasiveness varies widely so it is important to consider this before recommending any particular ball. Some games have special requirements such as low or reduced rebound and Mitre has reduced rebound balls for Futsal, indoor and Futebol de Salâo.

NATURAL TURF Natural turf pitches vary enormously in different countries, different seasons and different levels of play. As well as performance level we need to consider abrasion, water absorption and required use before recommending balls for natural turf. If the ball is to be used for training only, then economy and durability are most important; if to be used for a match or match practice, then performance is more important.

LOGO SIZE We print logos to the Football Association recommended size. However in some cases where the style of the logo is too wide it may not be possible to print to the maximum size allowed. It may also not be possible to print full sized logos on smaller sizes of jerseys 24/26 to 32/34.

YOUR ARTWORK When applying your bespoke artwork to your kit, the quality and type of artwork supplied will affect the accuracy of the reproduction and the speed of processing your order. When sending us your artwork please ensure it is saved in a layered vector format in a computer design package, ideally Adobe Illustrator. Please ensure that all text is converted to vector paths/curves as this help process your order efficiently. Unless supplied in vector format, artwork may be required to be redrawn to ensures no loss of resolution when resizing for your order. For artwork supplied in the advised format, in AI, EPS or PDF, we do not apply an artwork charge. If artwork is supplied in a flattened or raster format such as JPG, BMP, TIF, an hourly artwork fee will be charged for turning the supplied artwork into a usable design.

GARMENT AFTERCARE TAKING CARE OF YOUR GARMENT & WASHING ADVICE Our garments are made using high quality materials under strict quality control conditions. It should be noted that most fabrics discolour due to staining by substances such as mud and grass which may not be entirely removed by washing. We recommend removing as much mud from the garment as possible before soaking/washing. Follow detergent manufacturersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; instructions particularly with powders/liquids designed for heavy stains. Avoid products containing chlorine bleach that may damage fabrics, trims and decoratives. Soaking garments in water and detergent as soon as possible can reduce discolouration. Use at least an equal amount of water by volume to that of the garments being soaked/washed. Make sure all parts are fully immersed. Pale garments such as White, Yellow, Sky and Tangerine may require more attention and the use of pre-wash soakers will assist in the removal of stains. Do not overfill the washing machine with garments since if the ratio of water to garments is too small, dirt can easily be re-deposited. This can stain all the garments grey. We do not recommend fabric conditioners on jerseys and shorts which may cause a build up of film on fibres. This can prevent the washing process from penetrating filaments and dislodging dirt. However, socks will benefit from fabric conditioners and softeners. Prostar will not accept liability for discolouration or damage to garments which is attributable to staining caused by elements foreign to the materials used in manufacture.

CUSTOMISING YOUR GARMENT Please check your order carefully before printing/embroidery as we are unable to exchange goods after customisation. We will not accept responsibility for goods incorrectly supplied which are then printed or embroidered nor for goods incorrectly printed or embroidered by sources other than ourselves. Many of our garments are manufactured using high quality sublimation print processes. Only trained operators should carry out any further process involving inks or heat. We are unable to offer advice on the application of decorative products other than those it supplies and will not accept liability for any damage and/or discolouration attributable to decorative products applied by others.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS SHINGUARD CARE INSTRUCTIONS Mitre shinguards should be wiped clean using lukewarm water and be allowed to dry naturally at room temperature. In order to prevent damage to the shinguard, do not place on hot surfaces such as radiators.

GOALKEEPER GLOVE CARE INSTRUCTIONS The latex rubber used to manufacture Mitre gloves is of the finest quality giving optimum performance in both wet and dry conditions. Please take great care as due to the soft nature of the material, we cannot guarantee protection against high and sustained abrasion. To ensure the best grip, latex should be washed in warm water prior to first use. Never use detergents or soaps and never use water above 30ยบC. All latex palms should be moistened with clean, warm water before each use. Hang gloves individually. Do not dry gloves in direct heat or near radiators.

BALL CARE INSTRUCTIONS INFLATION Care should be taken when inserting the inflation needle into the ball to prevent damaging the valve and bladder. Mitre Glycerine should be used to allow the needle to be inserted smoothly. This is particularly important on the initial inflation as the wall of the bladder can be punctured if the needle is pushed too far before the air is pumped in. PRESSURE The amount of pressure in the ball will significantly affect the performance and durability of the ball. Pressure should be checked regularly as not only do balls gradually lose air through the wall of the bladder, but temperature can also alter the pressure by 1 psi for every 10ยบC. The recommended pressure is printed on the ball and this should be checked regularly using a Mitre pressure gauge. AFTERCARE If the ball gets wet during play, it should be dried in an airy place and not force dried with heat as this will damage the ball.
