Fokker D.VII The D.VII quickly established itself as an outstanding machine. This reconstruction of the model is painted to represent the personal aircraft of the commander of Jasta 33, Leutnant Carl-August von Schoenebeck. He picked out “number 7” for good luck. In the latter years of the war, German aircraft used this “Lozenge” pattern of camouflage, with different variations on upper and lower wing surfaces. As painting the pattern added too much weight to the plane, the pattern was printed onto the plane’s fabric covering. After the Armistace, all German weapons and airplanes had to be destroyed. The D.VII aircrafts, however, were surrendered to the Allies to be tested and evaluated.
