WHAT?

WHY?

Rugby athletes start S&C from U13 level until they leave Methody.

Girls’ hockey S&C starts at U15 until they leave Methody.

Rowers avail of S&C throughout their school rowing career.

High performing pupils who excel in sport inside and outside of Methody are provided with S&C support.

Olympic weightlifting is part of GCSE PE and takes place in the S&C facility.

Athletes taking part in structured Strength & Conditioning programmes are less likely to get sport related injuries. We want to develop athletic qualities such as strength and speed maximising the potential of our athletes.

CORE PRINCIPLES • Athlete development before sport specification. • Be pro-active over re-active. • Movement competency and education before load.

PATHWAY • Our programme is based on research driven athletic development pathways where individual athlete development comes before sport specialisation. All athletes must meet our standards of movement, strength & education before being allowed to progress to the next performance level. We seek to not only maximise our youth athletes potential but to provide strong foundations for future success.
